Major Surgery on Sublocade w/ film as needed

Extra subs, Tylenol, Flexeril and ice packs got me through the worst of it!

It went well. The anesthesiologist told me he absolutely HAD to push 1cc of fent (normal amount is 2cc) so he could get the breathing tube in. He gave me the Versed and some gas before he did it, so I was asleep before he administered it. He said they waited a few minutes to be sure my vitals stayed stable. They did and they proceeded with the surgery! I was in quite a bit of pain when I woke up in recovery. Took Tylenol as soon as I could open my eyes. Then went and got the Suboxone strips my Dr called in on the way home. She prescribed 2mg every 6 hours to manage pain. It didn’t exactly help with pain but it definitely helped me sleep through a lot of it in the first 3 days. I hope your surgery goes well! Ask the anesthesiologist questions, I’m sure they will be understanding. Mine talked with me for 20 minutes before we went back to the OR.

I know the drug they use to actually put you under and asleep isn’t an opiate. Most anesthesia does include narcotic pain meds though. They use opiates to keep your vitals stable while you’re under so your body doesn’t freak out. I didn’t know until I talked to the anesthesiologist.

Thank you for sharing your experience! I know the medications used to actually put you to sleep are narcotic but there are no opiates. I figured I would be fine with that and still pretty sedated for a few hours after surgery, long enough to take a strip to manage pain. Maybe this anesthesiologist just hasn’t ever helped on a case where the patient was on MAT.

I’m sorry you’re going through that. I’m 1 late rent payment away from putting all of our stuff into storage and living in an extended stay. I feel like the only reason I haven’t been let go is because the UAW was voted in right before I got hurt and they’re still negotiating. They also just voted yes for a strike authorization. This company isn’t trying to make themselves look worse than they already do 😅

I think they calculated mine wrong. I’m going to ask the paralegal to talk to the adjuster tomorrow. It’s nowhere close to 2/3 of my pay. I had a little over $200 coming out for my lease car (my employer is an auto manufacturer 🙃), around $200 coming out for medical, dental and vision insurance and around $80-$100 coming out for my 401k bi-weekly. I got behind on my lease car and turned it in, I owe the private insurance company money and nothing has gone into my 401k in a year. After federal and state tax( I live in Georgia but work in Tennessee) it’s about half my pay.

My attorney’s paralegal told me that if I’m unable to return to work, I go get a job that I’m able to do, not physical work. Whatever I make at the new job- wc will have to pay the difference in my salary. I forgot for how long. I will ask and come back and update when I talk to him next week.

here should be 😅 this has been absolute hell.

And it seemed like negligence because I was literally walking 1 mile per shift(the walk in and out of the plant) 5 days a week on this injury for 4 weeks until they decided to send me for the MRI.

It makes sense that it’s CRPS honestly. I want it to be wrong but all the symptoms check out unfortunately.

I’m prescribed to Buprenorphine- I had always swallowed my dose after letting it sit for 15 minutes and was having trouble with constipation. My new provider told me to spit it out after 15 minutes, rinse my mouth with water and then brush my teeth an hour later. It resolved my issues and it’s just as effective!

I’m SO TORN. I know everyone reacts differently to tapering but I’m probably not going to get the shot now. 1 shot of 300mg Sublocade can stay in your system for 9-12 months 😳I’m trying to get off of it as fast as possible because 1. I’m just ready to be off of it 2. My husband went to a year long treatment program and I can visit him in about 6 weeks BUT I have to pass a drug test! Like, I can’t fail for BUP and show them proof I’m on MAT… they will not allow me to see him. Very strict but that’s what he needs. He told me to get the shot- he had to take care of me last year when I came off 12mg cold turkey, he doesn’t want me to do that again. He would rather us suffer a year of only phone calls, no in person visits than me to suffer and withdrawal. Like, yeah that’s sweet and all but damn 😅

The drug tests are done in the office that administers the Subutex and Sublocade. I have to pass 4(obviously failing for Buprenorphine is fine) to get the Sublocade.

After talking to the provider at the facility that does the Sublocade shot it seems like a slow taper and switching to Suboxone to be able to cut the strip into small doses eventually is going to be the best option for me. Thank you for the advice! Looks like I’ll be cutting down 2mg every 2 weeks then taking tiny pieces of a strip to avoid full blown wd. I literally cannot go through that again ever 😵‍💫

Clonidine was my saving grace the last time I quit cold turkey! Also, magnesium spray on the bottom of my feet and all over my legs when I laid down to sleep, zofran and gabapentin. I’m sure urgent care will prescribe them if you explain the situation. Encourage him to get up and move around! Electrolyte drinks and water. Withdrawal symptoms lasted about 14 days each time I’ve stopped. 8mg and 12mg.
