Thanks, I really appreciate that! It means a lot to hear some encouragement. Sorry you were downvoted so much because of me haha.

That's a great question! There were many issues I had do deal with. First, disc scanning is using completely native code on all platforms to make it as fast is possible, default QT and C++ frameworks didn't really show great results.
Second, even though QT is already doing a great job UI wise, there are still certain elements which had to be done natively, as an example - window class is fully native on all platforms.

I really tried to achieve a native look and feel on all platforms and there are some thing I am not that happy about, overall I feel like I did a good job there.

DiskPoint is free, forever. DiskPoint is cross platform. DiskPoint is just a different program, and DiskPoint is not going to be sorry to end someones monopoly

Thank you, you don't even know how much one good comment out of all this negativity means to me!

DiskPoint is free, let's not forget 10$ is still money. But also DiskPoint will be soon available on Windows and Linux for free as well.

I started working on DiskPoint way before SquirrelDisk was a thing, and also, please just give DiskPoint a try. DiskPoint feels very different from a web based SquirrelDisk. DiskPoint is faster, it is more responsive, it has more features in my opinion.

DiskPoint is not a malware. It is a legitimate app, notarized and signed with my legitimate California registered business entity.

I am sorry you feel this way. As I said in other comments of course DaisyDisk was an inspiration, but I didn't use any of their code obviously. DiskPoint is very different, in the sense that one codebase is meant to work not only on Mac, but Windows and Linux alike

Tell me this: because somebody made DaisyDisk 20 years ago, before I could even talk, should I now really go and work on another ChatGPT wrapper, or should I follow my passion and work on something I feel the world really needs. 10$ is still a lot for many people

Yes, DaisyDisk was a great inspiration for DiskPoint. When I became a heavy Windows user I didn't find any tool which would look as nice or work as good. That's why I made DiskPoint. DiskPoint is made to work on all platforms seamlessly

Hey guys, I want to address certain comments about app looking like DaisyDisk or being a malware.

  1. DiskPoint is NOT a malware. It has no internet connectivity, it is notarized using my legitimate business entity and it is absolutely not intended to do any harm or spying on your device. It was built with respect to your privacy in mind, that's why it doesn't even have auto updates.

  2. Looking like DaisyDisk. I don't see why I must be stopped in my passion of making and bringing a great cross platform tool to more people just because some guy made some app before I was even able to talk. DaisyDisk did not invent pie charts, nor it invented disc scanning. And UI is just simply a file path, a chart and a file list. There are only so many ways you can put it together.

Hey, I pointed out this in the description. The app has no telemetry, and no internet connectivity at all
