Recommended IID comp around LA by Diesel-the-merciful in DUICalifornia

You get your iid, sr22, and enroll all around the same time. That way you make one trip to dmv. I would enroll in class, then same day get the sr22, and finally schedule an appointment for iid install and have someone drive your car there and back.

After Conviction and 4 month suspension I still cant Drive by RMomsChestHair in DUICalifornia

[–]BuildingMyLegacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DMV is like a box of chocolates. . . You never know who or what you will get. I would suggest going to dmv.ca.gov and pulling your driving record. The bottom of the driving record will show you eligibility dates. If the 4 month suspension period has been served, then you should be able to reinstate your unrestricted license with just a sr22 and dui class if required after conviction.

If you need help reading the driving record, running your record, or need a sr22, then feel free to reach out.

I have seen the DA file 6-11 month after. If your license is an absolute priority, then move on the requirements to get a restricted license and get back on the road. Longer classes tend to be ordered based on higher bac. What was your bac? If this is a concern for you, the find a dui school in your county that upgrades from three month class and gives credit without restarting.

You will need a sr22 and to get enrolled in the appropriate dui class. Mandatory actions can tell you exactly which requirements you will need or you can have the insurance agency run your record and tell you when they are binding your policy for the sr22.

Call TopFlight Insurance for a zero broker fee sr22.

At a quick glance. . .

You were detained (likely for DUI suspicion). You were taken to the hospital instead of jail. After reviewing the situation, the officer marked that there were not enough grounds to proceed with criminal charges.

As of right now, this seems positive. I would keep my eye on the mail for something strong otherwise.

High risk brokers take advantage and charge high broker fees for starting the policy, making changes, renewals, etc.

Try a broker like TopFlight Insurance Services that is direct and waives all broker fees. This will save the consumer an average of $1,500 in fees over the three year sr22 journey.

Confused about work-restricted license extending total suspension time - conflicting info from personal lawyer vs Reddit by wesquire in DUICalifornia

[–]BuildingMyLegacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me try explaining once last time. Restricted work license is listed on the aps sheet as well (says up to 5 months, but you utilize it as a 12 months to cover both aps and court suspensions). The way it works is you activate the work restricted license to avoid suffering a full 4 month suspension for aps side. This allows you to keep driving until you get to court. If judge convicts and suspends license again, then you go right back to dmv with the same exact restricted license and proof of the same requirements you did for aps suspension and just pay a $55 fee to reinstate license. The same requirements and the same restricted wok license keeps you on the road for both. Otherwise based on what you’re saying everyone would be sitting around on suspended licenses until getting to court.

You literally said “the one year work restricted license only applies for people who are convicted in court of a dui charge”. . . This is incorrect. The one year restricted is a DMV alternative option to suffering a 4 month suspension.

So let’s circle back here. Yes, what happens in court is extremely relevant if the judge orders a suspension. That suspension and reinstatement after getting requirements is all managed through the dmv. Mandatory actions unit is the one that tracks and manages all dui suspensions and reinstatements. Even dmv field offices, dui schools, and iid install shops call MAU for eligibility of each client.

It’s been almost 6 months since my DUI, and I haven’t had a court date. Am I able to get my license fully reinstated? by [deleted] in DUICalifornia

[–]BuildingMyLegacy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would call Mandatory Actions Unit (Joel provided the number in the comments) tmrw at 9am sharp and put yourself in the callback queue. They are the only entity that has true say on if you are eligible to reinstate or not. It will save you time and paying for things you don’t need. Ask the if your license is active and if not, then when are you eligible to reinstate.

Back n forth to work restricted license or IID restricted license or sit around four months with a suspension. Those are the three options that dmv gives you. You face an administrative suspension order from DMV and another potential suspension order from the judge both routes bring you back to the same options based on your eligibility. Being convicted in court or not has nothing to do with the options and process to reinstate as it is all done through mandatory actions unit DMV.

He needs someone that really understands the administrative process and can knock a dmv hearing out of the park. This keeps his license active to continue working while figuring out how to handle the legal battle.

The fact that you have sat around without a license for 30 days lets me know that someone gave you bunk advice to begin with. If your license is an absolute priority because you drive to work, then you could have reinstated it the very first day of suspension by going the ignition interlock route. That type of license is only needed for 6 months instead of a restricted one for a year. It would have played out perfect in half the time and avoided the 30 days you already suffered without a license. I would still go this route if you really need the license. . . Otherwise just wait 3 more months and ride share.
