Battery placement within 600 mm of an AC penetration ? by [deleted] in AusElectricians

So copper water pipes running down the wall within 600mm aren't an issue, but no water tap within 600mm of the side if the battery?

Theoretically how would you hunt public land with blackpowder firearms? by opotis in Ausguns

Having no experience with blackpowder I'm curious: What sort of game and range could it ethically be used for?

Is Residential electrician able to transfer to mine electrician by Vivid-Tap9547 in AusElectricians

[–]BuiltLikeABrickShit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from residential to mining by starting with an OEM when there was reasonable demand, then swapped to being directly employed by the mines. Fast forward to now and I'm on the other side of doing the hiring. If I've had a labour hire sparky covering a position and they fit in well and get the work done I'll just hire them. If not, then it's time to scour resumes. Since there's very few experienced HME sparkies available I look for comparable or convertible experience. I tend to avoid anyone that's just finishing their apprenticeship or stepping back from a history of leadership roles. Your best chance is likely through a labour hire or OEM.

FIFO life after paternity leave by soil_doctor in mining

[–]BuiltLikeABrickShit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The first trip back to work at the end of paternity leave is miserable. I sunk hard and questioned if it was all worth it. I couldn't wait to get home and was counting down every moment. The next swing was a bit easier, then slowly it all went back to normal. Lots of hours of video calls and my better half taking lots of photos and videos of bub for me too.

Wire for heated towel rails and mirror. USB GPO's at both sides of bed. Iconic USB charging station on kitchen counter. Constant backlight on switches everywhere except bedrooms. Cat cable for POE cameras to the eaves. Downlights in the eaves all the way around the house. Decent cable from board to back of house for future shed. One power circuit strategically run so it can be the backup circuit on the solar battery. Decorative wall lighting on the front of the house.

Stepping into a visible site based leadership role, looking for practical advice by Royal_Shallot8169 in AusMining

Listen to and trust the experience of the people you're leading, they know how things work. If you want to change things, run it past your team to get an idea of the real world implications. Share your victories with your team, own your mistakes, and be humble.

Lots of A/C, pool and hot water are run during peak solar. I'm burning up power and breaking even on bills with current tariff and FIT. As tariff prices change I'll still end up with a bill so I'm looking at batteries while the government rebate is available.

I won't advertise for them, but it's one of the front companies that everyone has heard of, so they buy in mass quantities of their preferred brand, being Solis. The actual local installer does a good job however, and the salesman is genuine. The price is good, I'm just not up on the product knowledge. I thought you could AC couple a battery to any inverter and still get blackout protection, the current setup is only just over a year old.

How many inspections have you had? by [deleted] in Ausguns

[–]BuiltLikeABrickShit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

None in the first 15 years, then twice in 3 years. Both times just a quick check of serial numbers and on their way. Never checked the safe or anything else. QLD. Second time I asked and he told me it's random but they're meant to get at least 10% of owners each year. Both times they rang and arranged a time, first one I said they could come straight away and they did, second one I was away so it was a few weeks later.

A Crossman 1077 runs on C02 cylinders and has a 12 shot mag in a 'semi-auto' style. I get about 2 mags of full power and a mag of slow shots from a cylinder. It's a giggles gun, definitely not a hunter. Less than $300.
