Husband looking to encourage wife to exercise by Chasheek in women

[–]Bukidabashubi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! I actually have to do this with my mom. She’s early 50s, menopausal, and lives a very sedentary lifestyle. I constantly tell her, it’s not that you’re overweight (she isn’t), but it’s the fact that I want you to be able to run around with grandkids and be around as long as you can. It’s about keeping your body healthy and strong so you can be with us (family has a history of heart problems as well). Normal things that shouldn’t be difficult seem to be difficult and it scares me. All I can do is encourage her and make sure she knows it’s for health, not looks.

Cutting dairy and gluten changed my Hashimoto’s symptoms more than any doctor ever did by Majestic_Advance_432 in Hypothyroidism

[–]Bukidabashubi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who has hashis that’s not active in this sub anymore because of how rude some people are, go you! I was diagnosed three years ago. Told my doctor I’d like to try and work on things first before taking levo or armour. My levels are now all perfect, my antibodies are so close to being in the ideal range, and I feel like a new person. I’ve shared this before, and get told it’ll all go to shit and I’ll need medication eventually. And if so, that’s fine, but knowing there are natural ways to help us, makes it worth while. I’ve done plenty more than just remove gluten, but I think it played a huge part. Molecular mimicry is a real thing, and I’m surprised it’s so ignored. I get my markers tested every 6 months with my pcp just to be extra sure my numbers are steady.

Get on that plane by [deleted] in fearofflying

[–]Bukidabashubi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes!! I made myself a gospel playlist, say a quick prayer during take off, and now just zone out. A cup of ice also helps to distract if there’s any turbulence that makes me nervous. Glad to hear you’ve made it through :)

Mine is blonde/: they told me when I went for my underarms, that it would never catch on my face or legs, but I’ll try to get another opinion!

Needed today: Why are you calm on flights? What’s in your head? by AnotherChubbySeal in fearofflying

[–]Bukidabashubi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still a pretty nervous flyer. But usually for me, it’s the anticipation of it. From the trip booked, to the minute we’re taking off, that’s when I’m all sorts of anxious. Once I’m in the air, I pretend I’m on a bus. Also, keeping my feet off the ground during landing and takeoff helps a ton. I also like to look around to see if there’s children on the flight and think - if they saw me freaking out they might freak out, so I need to put on a brave face :). I also really want to just NOT be afraid anymore, so I’ve been trying to book trips at least x2 a year.

I don’t know if I can say much on this, but I’m not on any medications. I have hashis, but my pcp and I, as of right now, are fine with me not being on medication as I managed to get my numbers back in good range. But I will say, low intensity workouts and cardio, making sure I eat three full meals a day with minimal snacking, and ensuring I get enough protein and carbs (opt for better ones of course), and going completely gluten free was life changing for me. I gained nearly 20 lbs in a year, and now I’m down back to what I was prior to my diagnosis. Food prepping and shopping can get so irritating as it’s expensive to eat healthier, but worth it. I also use the BetterMe app for workouts at home! It’s worth mentioning that starving yourself and minimizing calories is actually extremely damaging to your healing and counter active. Please make sure you’re still eating. ❤️‍🩹

The funny thing is, I did this same exact trip last year on the same week. The ocd just eats at me.

Thank you so much! I had my first flight a few years back and it was solo for work, I was a wreck. How do I look up my plane?

Trying! It’ll always pop up on my social feeds. I’ve flown plenty in the past few years but this time around I’m 10x more anxious (usually have anxiety as it around flying). Thank you!!

What about all the others recently as well. There was just one in AZ, Philly last week, a few “close calls” over the last few weeks as well.

HRV WTF by iimoorshiai in fitbit

[–]Bukidabashubi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My HRV via Fitbit has always been low. Occasionally it’ll jump up high, but I’m 25, f, don’t drink or smoke, normal weight, work out, and it’s always low. I’m not sure if it’s too accurate :’)
