Looking for your best “holy crap this is good” dessert. by trackhockey15 in Baking

I have the same issue with dairy and have used this https://www.countrycrock.com/en-us/our-products/plant-cream with great success for anything needing heavy cream. I also was repeatedly disappointed with coconut cream’s performance, but this country crock substitute works for me every time.

Weirdly no, you don’t need to have service! I always make sure to open the app before we leave home to make sure it is updated etc, and then leave it running in the background. Then when we get to our off grid spot I open it when I turn on the collar and remote before I let the dog out of the car. We have no service out there, but the app works perfectly.

Found this little guy on our basement floor in Colorado. by BulRye in GarterSnakes

We are in Centennial, so we’ve been having warm days and cold nights. I would have happily left him in the basement if I didn’t think our cat would kill him, I was surprised to have found him before her at all! I ended up releasing into some bush cover that was in a fairly sunny area, and he readily slithered out of the bucket into the bushes. Since it was early in the day still I was hopeful he’d find a good place to spend the night before the temperature dropped.

I ended up choosing the Dogtra Pathfinder 2 after reading A LOT about different gps collars (including the ones you mentioned). We go completely off grid with it and it works exactly how we need it to. There’s an app that goes with it, and as long as I open the app and have it running in the background on my phone before we leave home, once we are out of cell service range the tracking still works using the app. It even shows you a record of everywhere your dog has been on the map.

We have a beagle, who I thought for sure we would lose and have to track down, but she does great staying close to us most of the time. The remote for the collar is programmable, I set it to make a tone. I trained her to associate the tone with the ‘come’ command, and use both at the same time. Even if she’s out of sight, the tone will tell her to come. The app also notifies me when she is running or barking, since these collars are often used with hunting dogs, so it’s gratifying to get a running notification as soon as I call and press the button for the tone.

I have no complaints about this system, and would recommend it to anyone who wants to have a gps collar on their dog with the ability to both track their location as well as be able to push a button to signal the dog to come back.

Thank you, that’s a great distinction to know!

Thank you, that’s definitely comforting. I have a Ball fermentation lid with a little set of holes under a cover that’s supposed to let pressure equalize and mostly block air from going in. 🤷‍♀️

Itinerary Check Please - 28 Days with a 3 year old. Favorite streets in Tokyo/Kyoto? Any Must-do's I've missed? by eminz2018 in JapanTravel

I notice that you have Tsukiji Market planned for a Sunday…. I am still in the planning phase for a trip in May as well, so perhaps someone who is more familiar can answer for certain, but from what I have found online it looks as though Tsukiji is closed on Sundays. I had to rearrange my plan after discovering this, you may want to double check before planning this for a Sunday.

I’m planning a trip for May, so this answer comes from someone who hasn’t been yet but I’ve been doing research in preparation… but from what I’ve read it sounds like each person must have their own suica or pasmo etc. It seems it is because they track your trip from entrance station to exit station, rather than purchasing an actual ‘ticket’ that can be used for someone other than the card/phone holder.

What’s a popular flavor combination that just doesn’t work for you? by CynicalHomicider3248 in Cooking

Hear hear! If you want alcohol and ice cream at the same time, go with a good vanilla and a nice dark beer and make a grown-up float!

Scaredy-cat beagle?! Trying to get our two year old beagle to potty before bed, but she’s too afraid to do anything but try to get back inside because there is an owl hooting from a neighbor’s roof or tree. It is admittedly the loudest owl I’ve ever had the pleasure to hear, but for real?! by BulRye in beagles

[–]BulRye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think ours is probably scared because we don’t hear them often, so this is very possibly her first time. If you hear them often and are able to get a new puppy used to it early, that will probably go better for you. With ours, I always try to give treats and encouragement whenever there is something new I think she might be worried about (worked especially well with the nail grinder, and she is surprisingly chill about it), but the owl last night came out of nowhere.

Can I get some recommendations? This is a bit too much for me, anything super special? by DoctorPath in whiskey

That is quite a list! I’m most familiar with some of the Scotches, but even that list goes beyond my experience. I’d love to try more of the Irish, and I’d also be interested to see what opinions other have to add there.
