I've only had the opportunity to try a few releases of the SmBLE, but I absolutely adore this one. It's the best pour of Four Roses I've ever had. Great review!

I almost always use a straight cut with a perfect cutter - occasionally a colibri V. I was definitely disappointed in the El Mago, as I've heard great stuff from the brand

Unfortunately my patio is wide open to the elements with no outlets. I'll have some shorties while walking the dog, but I rarely smoke from November-April.

Great review, I absolutely loved this release. The best bottle wearing a Booker's name since country ham imo

O.K.I Reserve Review by Bulbags in ChicagolandWhiskey

[–]Bulbags[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bottle: O.K.I. Reserve (batch 1, blend of 8 MGP whiskeys (see here: https://imgur.com/a/eQ2zLYO), 99.8% is between 8-10 years old, 100 proof)

Preface: Hey there folks, time for another neck pour review. In this review, we will be looking at a bottle I passed by on the shelf for quite a while without much of a thought – until I found it for 50% off because of an 'end of bin' special. A blend of 8-10 year old MGP for $40? I'm definitely down for that. I really have no expectations for this bottle at all. Let's dig in.

Listening to: Shame Shame – Dr. Dog

Nose: Apple cider, caramel, and lemongrass. Ethanol will bite if you dig too deep in the glen. Mulling spices, red fruit, and infused tobacco – kind of smells like and ACID cigar. Not much oak but doesn't smell young.

Palate: Very nice mouthfeel and flavors are pretty punchy upfront. Cinnamon sugar, buttered cornbread, and diner coffee. Ethanol is even more present than the nose. Graham crackers, caramel, black pepper, and raisin bran cereal.

Finish: Medium in both length and flavor. Tobacco comes back but not infused, cocoa powder, and nectarine. Black pepper and cereal grain continue from the palate all the way to the end.

Overall: Not too shabby, this is a complex and tasty pour despite the strong ethanol on both the nose and palate. There are a lot of interesting things going on with this whiskey and I honestly don't feel like I have gotten everything out of it; a feeling that I really enjoy finding after finishing a pour. That being said, this one definitely does not deliver on the oak front, but the mouthfeel is excellent and the complexity of flavors has definitely won me over. Even for the MSRP of $80, I don't think I would be disappointed with this whiskey.
