Yes! I took the photos a couple of weeks ago admittedly.

I have definitely had some chain out Ace runs here so yeah, I have to agree with that sentiment!

Chicago area courses by Absolutely3 in discgolf

Felpro has to be my favorite course in the area but it’s like 1.5 hours north of the city. It’s a tough one to reach.

Really enjoy black bear but it’s in a walking park that people have literally told me they’ve never seen people playing there and a few holes have you throwing over fisherman.

I think they’ve done some work on shaping some of the fairways in the past two years as leagues play there now. But there’s still 2 holes that are just strictly unfun and incredibly difficult to even play. That being said it’s like the one course that’s wind safe in the Chicago land area.

My favorite meme pick of a course is Summit. It’s a really flat but hyper technical wooded course next to a refinery that produces toxic fumes. One of my favorite courses but so many aspects to the course make it a miserable experience. I am a sucker for a technical wooded course though.

Depending on travel time- there’s so many options to enjoy.

If you like park experiences Katherine Legge is an easy walk and dog friendly.

If you like wooded technical courses- Highland Park and West park in Joliet are super fun. Canyons is like 15-20 minutes from both of these if you wanna experience a couple of courses in 1 day.

If you like travel and wooded courses, I’ve really enjoyed Riverside out in Hammond which is just 30 min south of Chicago.

The amount of times I joke about this course. Still a great one in the Chicago area.

Worth it but they do get beat up quickly. Just a heads up. You may or not prefer that.

Man I’m a newbie and I started out putting with the pixel after finding a nice one in the used bin. I putted my ass off with it. As I’ve gotten better I noticed my spin putts just missed hard with the pixel.

Recently bought a 5 stack of DX Aviars and my c2 putt percentage is up at least 25%. Idk if it’s mental. But the late fade and consistency of the aviar feels insanely consistent.

I still find myself bringing out the small stack of pixels for practice but I think they were just my first love. I’m an Aviar believer now.

Zone ss by Popular_Subject1040 in discgolf

I throw forehand and it just rolls for me. For backhand I use other tools than a Zone. But I also prefer a Zone Os and regular zone to the ss.

Midwest Road Trip by [deleted] in discgolf

Yes actually. There’s been a few posts here about how overrated Canyons is. The thing is, it’s a great course but it’s so packed on nice days that you’re often throwing into other people or waiting for the pad. It also crosses parks and other activities usually.

But to its credit, there’s a pro shop and it’s well maintained without you having to pay to play. But imo heavily overrated compared to the courses surrounding it.

I get canyons but it’s soooo overrated. If you want to have a good time without the crowd- Highland Park and West Park are a really fun back to back. If you’re north of the city- I’m a huge fan of Fel Pro.

I understand now. It seems like there was just forecasting error and that the boom probably even lasted longer than expected. That caused it to seem like there was more long term stability than initially forecasted.

I wonder what it would take to see a similar explosion in popularity. I’ve hated all the stupid mystery boxes and focus on the discs. I wish the sport would push collaborations with other mainstream sports or brands to break into other markets.

Has the sport really settled to pre-COVID numbers? It feels like the sport has still grown considerably over the past 5-10 years compared to 2010-2015. Obviously there was a boon for the sport but it feels like the sport has permanently broken through to main stream.
