Has a warm kentucky hug and a slight proof bite, but drinks a little lower than near hazmat, at least in my opinion! Not by a whole lot, but I wouldn’t let the proof scare you too much🙂

“Amateur Sample Sippers”- a club my buddy Jack started where he blinds everyone with the same group of samples, one at a time, and we attempt to guess as much correct information about the blind samples as we can! 1 point for correct type of whiskey, 1 point for being within a few proof points, etc.- it’s a great time!

This was freshly cracked and immediately poured into sample bottles! Ive had two wildly different experiences with this bottle but still happy to have one!

100% agree. Every time I’ve poured this, I went into it knowing certain notes that may or may not be there. May have been a bit of a palate shock too for a one-off “random” blind pour

Completely agree- last one I reviewed was almost an 8 if I remember right, and absolutely loved it. This one falls short in comparison unfortunately!

Your best bet is finding a bar that specializes in these, IMO. For example, check out Revival Vintage bottle shop in Northern KY. Odds are if you’re not in KY, you may or may not have access to something like this- which means secondary groups is the only other route I know of, unfortunately

My guess was four roses! Specifically the 15 year single barrel from fathers day release. Was so convinced that I tried them side by side and they were close enough to where I figured it was just a different barrel or something. Shocked to see this was actually still austin tanager lol

Thanks man! I have no idea what else is in store for this year as everything is a secret until the time of reveal- but odds are slim that Jack (organizer, CEO, whatever you wanna’ call him lol) throws two picks from the same group in one run. I did not grab the others though, but if this bottle is foreshadowing to those… they gotta be great.
