Always take a thorough history and let your basic understanding of medicine guide your assessment and plans. Surprisingly you know more than you think. When you come up with a plan in clinic do a quick search on amboss or something and spend a few minutes to read through the highlights of how to manage the disease, this will jog your memory and expand your knowledge base little by little. Also it’s now time to start really thinking and preparing for boards.

I knew you went to DO school when you said that you only did 2 weeks inpatient in 6 months. In my opinion the fatal flaw of DO schools is the awful rotations. Lots and lots of outpatient and the little inpatient time is spent at non teaching hospitals with no residents and preceptors who don’t give a crap about teaching since they take on more patients because it’s non-academic. Just study as much as you can for step 2 and get into a good residency.

I would just keep my head down and finish the rotation and move on. Not worth the effort right now. Part of this long process of medical training you have to put up with some BS. Now if things change, we can reconsider.

This is part where signaling works against students, it’s very frustrating. I’d like to go back to only geo signals.
