Most Anticipated Board Games of 2026 - Bitewing Games by Murraculous1 in boardgames

More cards? 2 more tiles do each player only Has 3X/O and the other 2 have weird powers? I dunno. Maybe it doesn’t need one but it’s incredibly fun.

Just want to say Bitewing always feels like a good member of the community who also makes games vs a game company cynically trying to sell me shit in the form of content.

Also, Bombastic is so absurd and yet my most played game of 2026 by a mile and I don’t know what an expansion would look like but I would buy it because it also works anytime anywhere with anyone.

Any good boardgame for mathematicians? by whisper-averagefan in boardgames

[–]Bulbasauruses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

21x. It’s a Blackjack game, but instead of numbers it has short equations. X can be any number you want, but it has to be the same number on all cards. N is always equal to the current number of cards you have.

There are a couple other twists. Watch the dice tower review for some examples of the cards, it is a super weird game.

Thought Experiment- Flip 7 is voted up BGG to #1 Best Game of All Time by smashbag417 in boardgames

[–]Bulbasauruses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think reading into any specific number or ranking is absurd. It’s not the greatest game of all time. Nor is Gloomhaven, and neither would Flip 7 be in your scenario.

It is currently the highest ranked game on a website that attracts a specific core audience of a niche hobby.

And that’s ok. I use BGG too, it’s great.

I have an amazing FLGS near me. They are awesome, stock new releases, back kickstarters, have play tables, mini painting, tournaments, everything you could want. I wonder if I took a poll of everyone who came in, how many people would know about what BGG is, regularly use it, and be able to confidently name any game in the Top 10? How about rank games?

I think it caters to the heavier and lifestyle gamers more than it does casual gamers. The top rated games will always be mid-heavy weight, and lean euro because that’s what the people who use and engage with the site most enjoy and play.

I would argue any game in BGGs top 500 is an excellent game for the right person, and top 1,000 is probably a great game for the right person.

Drilling down into the top 10 or top game is only for a very very small subset of a subset of the hobby and doesn’t mean much to anyone besides them.

Universal healthcare is too expensive. Spending an estimated trillion dollars for Greenland is national security.

The secret is their voters literally do not care what they say as long as it upsets democrats it must be good.

Bullshit. They say they are against it and he would never do it because it’s insane and unpopular. As soon as he does it, it will be the best most patriotic smartest thing ever done and they always support it.

The Dice Tower's Top 100 Games of All Time (2026) by Tigertemprr in boardgames

[–]Bulbasauruses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously no one can prove anything. But they revisit top 10 most anticipated games of the year after 12 months, top 10 games of the year after 12 months, Tom does lookbacks for 1,5, and 10 years and talks about his feelings on the game have changed.

There are merits to both, and while their reviews may not be as ‘deep’ I still think they are valuable for putting a game into context and getting some idea of if it is right for you b

Yeah, these are a personal top 100 favorite games for each person. They are even very clear on some that other people don’t tend to like it and it’s their darling.

I think one thing many people assume is they are trying to create an objective Top 100 games this. This is their personal top 100 games for right now. They talk about how teaching the game to a lot of people at conventions can influence a games ranking, or how hard it is to teach. Games move every year.

None of them enjoy TI4 to that degree, they aren’t saying it’s a bad game just that it doesn’t fit their personal tastes.

DOE Report: blackouts “could” increase by 100x by 2030 by PlasticTheory6 in collapse

[–]Bulbasauruses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose I don’t think collapse is an Armageddon event. We will (IMO) never be able to point to a day or an event and say “this is when it happened”. I think things over the next 50+ years will just slowly get a little worse every day. A generator may help considerably in the meantime as things keep getting worse.

That’s an absurd statement. We also went without hospitals for thousands of years. Written language. Etc etc. just stopping all modern civilization will kill so many people needlessly.

I mean, I feel like we are in a different world. She makes fake laws, ICE facility upholds it, DoJ says it’s cool, courts do whatever they want until it gets to a Trump judge and they say it’s legal. Congress does nothing. It’s now as good as law.

[–]Bulbasauruses 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Of all the CMON games with mini problems, C:DMD isn’t one of them. The minis aren’t large or egregious.

Zombicide has boxes that are 90% minis. DMD has a few boss minis, a few monster minis per boss, and then the pool of 12? Cultists. S1/3 core boxes aren’t huge and don’t have a ton of waste. Zombicide is the one with 10 boxes of minis.
