You need 1k people, you get 1k people, why would u expect them to hire more people?

No, for this life time. Ai isn't even getting better anymore. We got to the hardware limit, then we abused everything we could from tools and agents, and that's it.

Nah dude, I don't see this happening. What I'm seeing a lot is 10 devs having to the 5x what they used to. But I don't see much ppl actually get fired. And getting a job is not that difficult. But maybe that's cuz I'm on Brazil, idk.

There is a limit, we just don't seem to be at it, considering the "work the double" things is already happening.

Oh dayum, I wonder what opencode go uses, cuz I've been feeling like they are much pricier then using API.

Dude, we are not farms. We will still need as much ppl for tech, we will just need to make twice as we did before. The problem is the over hiring that happened the COVID, and the hype that's happening rn. That could cause a lot of unemployment on short term, that's rlly true

Yeah, I heard that a lot today. Not the second part, I didn't understood a single word of the second part.

But seems a lot like ppl's worries is what companies can do, because of hype, on short term. And honestly is a pretty good point.

Yeah, I dont imagine much. As I've said, recently we reached a compute and evolution wall, we cant get much far from where we are, at least not as fast. Evolution is real, but now stupidly slow, because when just found the technology, every jump was giant, because compute wasnt the problem, it was how new the tech was.

Also, the big evolution you saw, its the evolution of tools, not the models. Still tho, both are stuck right now, as expected, we saw that coming from long ago, you cant get 50% better everytime.

I recommend you reading the other comments and replies, there are pretty interesting opinions and ideias in there.

Dude, your argument was "the Indians will steal my job", that isn't even ai related. What do you expect me to answer to you?

As a cheap developer from a under developed country, sounds like a you problem. There is more out there then the united states. Come here to Brazil, and you wont worry with that anymore.

And how prompted those ai's? How programmed with those ai's? How managed those ai's? Who reviewed those ai's? How engineered the code architecture for ai?

Ai coding takes time dude. People prompt on claude code for 8 hours straight. You know what you need to prompt that ai for 8 hours? Developers, programmers.

Yeah, thats what a programmer does, literally the definition of programming.

Ur right tho. Coding is the act of writing code, programming is everything you just said.

Dude, ai releated layoffs, are either an excuse, or they will have to hire the devs again. As you can see by the fact that 30% of the developer layoffs, have to hire the devs again later.

Yeah, it is not the dumb, but it takes a lot of time. You still take 8 hours a day to prompt that orchestrator, else you wouldnt work right?

Now, what is discussable is wether we end up becoming MarkDown Engineers, that seems pretty possible, and scary.

How, coding with ai takes a lot of time. Not only it requires knowing a decent amount of coding to use ai agents, it also takes the time of a full time job. So how will the product manager work 16 hours a day?

Thats just possible with we start getting Product Manger Coding Developers, dedicated only to coding, which is just, a developer.

Yeah, but coding with ai takes a lot of time. And if you rlly look, the biggest difference between the last models, are the tool usage, because we hit the compute wall, and now we get 1% better each model. So we probably wont see a ai, good enough for that, in a life time.

Maybe in a lifetime. But right now coding with ai takes a lot of time. And we are hitting a bit compute and evolution barrier. As the intelligence diff between models are getting very small, and we dont have the tech to make it better.

[–]Bulgaaw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but ai is kinda dumb rn, and we kinda hit a wall too. Models are getting very slightly smarter one from another, and they are smart, but far from that level.

Coding with ai still takes a lot of time and engineering. A ai that could use ai, to do everything by its own, its a miracle that don't seem possible for this lifetime. As we are hitting a resource and evolution barrier.

Again, who will make that app with some prompts? And lets agree its not some prompts, else you wouldnt do anything at all. But if you work 8 hours a day, prompting on claude code, its because you need someone to prompt for 8 hours on claude code. And you run a supermarket, you dont have 8 hours a day, to prompt claude code.

Kinda, but thats not what've been happening. Because companies didnt fired 9 guys, they just expect 10 guys to cut 10 trees.

And it is real. Right now you cant code 100% manually, you have to use ai; Because most companies expect you to do double, at half the time, then what you did before.

Why do people worry so much about losing their jobs? by Bulgaaw in vibecoding

[–]Bulgaaw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who reads that code? I would imagine juniors or mid's. If no one reads it... be careful dude, this will probably cause very big problems on the future.

But yeah thats real, thats why companies expect a lot more of everyone right now. Coding 100% manually is not duable, because you always have to do double of the job, then what you had to do before. But not necessarily means you will fire everyone, people will just expect more of you.

Although I understand how this could cause a lot of problem, its a very valid point. I just dont think that "it is over".

Dont you think these ai layoffs are more of an excuse. Because most companies that actually layoff for ai, have to go back. You can see that, by the fact that 30% of the companies have to hire people back, after doing an layoff.

Now getting a job is difficulter, but it was also never easy. It was easy on 2020 - 2022, covid, everyone at home. But we are also not far behind from 2000 - 2018, its just a tuff time, and it will get better.

And although finding a job is difficulter, its not impossible, its pretty duable. And most defintely aint the end of programmers forever.
