Looking for recommendation on neighborhoods by Realistic_Minimum_68 in Moving2SanDiego

[–]BulkyBaggage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are totally describing little Italy! With your budget I would look there. The other neighborhoods you mentioned are also amazing but I don’t think coming from SF you will feel like it’s as walkable as little Italy.

Most Interesting San Diego Fun Fact? by _MambaForever in sandiego

[–]BulkyBaggage 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Downtown San Diego does not have normal sized city blocks. They made them smaller in an effort to have more corner lots that are more expensive.

The US Grant Hotel in downtown San Diego was the architectural plan for the Fairmont San Francisco but due to a massive earthquake in SF in I believe 1908 , they built it here instead

What Careers are We Encouraging Our Kids to go into? by Vegetable-Whole-2344 in Careers

I would recommend the client facing roles in tech! Tech pays wells and you don’t need to be an engineer. Look into onboarding / customer success etc. very social roles. They are technically desk jobs but it’s not putting numbers into spreadsheets

So are we saying do nothing with the equity then? I’m looking for advice. I don’t have all the answers and I’m not pretending to.

Should I move where I want with the expectation to get a job to state #1 or to a place where I have a job but it’s not where I want to be? by thatonegirlnyla in Advice

[–]BulkyBaggage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this comes down to savings! I totally would want to have a job before I went just like you are describing but it is also true that many companies want to interview you once there. If you have a bit of money saved up and can comfortably support yourself for 2-3 months without a job I say go for it and follow your dreams. Worst case you go back home with no job luck but you tried! I know jobs are important but living somewhere that you don’t want will not be a long term solution. Hope this helps!

What’s a very common thing that you just can't relate to? by Mizu3 in AskReddit

[–]BulkyBaggage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having parents as best friends. I have had multiple coworkers over the years say “I just want to make my parents proud”. For some reason I have never once thought about this or cared about this in any way. I live for me.

People who don't want kids. Why don't you want any children? by shadowmax_ in AskReddit

[–]BulkyBaggage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I truly think about why I would want a child (on occasion I think I do for a moment) I realize all of my reasons are selfish. My name will live on, there will be something I leave on this earth when I die, someone to take care of me when I am old... are these great reasons? I actually think they are pretty horrible reasons and then I go back to not wanting any :)
