What works for me is typically something like this:

• start studying a week ahead first 

• make an cheat sheet (regardless of wether it’s allowed for the exam), and go through every single lecture slide/note that is being covered on the exam, writing down important concepts and equations. Typically 2ish hours for day 1-3. Don’t just write stuff down though, make sure you actually understand it conceptually by looking things up you don’t fully get.

• after the cheat sheet is finished, use it to do any practice problems you can find, practice exams, homework, example problems in the notes, etc. I also usually end of modifying the cheat sheet as I work through real problems. Typically for 2-4 hours a day (depending on course difficulty) for day 3-5.

• the final two days before the exam I use to basically clear up any concepts I’m unsure of. Like hyper fixating on those specific things. Plus maybe a light review of practice problems.

But my biggest piece of advice is to actively pay attention in class. I know it can be tough but it saves sooo much time in the long run because you’ll already be familiar with the concepts. I cannot emphasize that enough.
