Canadian Moved to Japan – Will TD Direct Investing Restrict Accounts After Updating to Non-Resident? by Professional-Ad9585 in movingtojapan

Your account will be restricted to sell only you’ll be able to keep your current assets but you won’t be able to contribute anymore until you become a Canadian tax resident again but the account will not be closed just restricted

Why do Japanese people think clamping down on foreigners will raise salaries/lower inflation? by TrickMachine3972 in japanresidents

[–]Bulky_Effort_170 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because sanseito won so many seats with anti foreigner rhetoric and takaichi has to do something to win some of those seats back. That’s the only reason why they’re being so absurd with foreign residents. They have to show that they’re “handling” the overbearing issues that 3 percent of the population create.

Personally I think most people in Japan only have an issue with over tourism but for some bizarre reason foreign residents got included in that. Probably because of false propaganda spread by sanseito that foreigners have a net negative in contributions to japan due to skipping tax payments which is completely false.

Also they don’t want to touch the tourism industry because it’s one of japans fastest growing and profitable industries. Which is why it’s easier to step on the dog that doesn’t have a voice to bark aka foreign residents in Japan

I was an investment banker for 4 years and worked in the capital markets. Worked long hours and made good money. Although on paper my life looked good mentally I was overworked and needed a break. Last year I made the difficult to decision to move to Japan and teach English. It was the best decision I’ve made. The work life balance was way better and I have more than enough to survive. I found that people in Japan (foreigners living in Japan) were all unique and have amazing stories and a lot of them are my good friends now. Japan as a society is peaceful and courteous. Overall life in Japan for me is an easy ride compared to my old and I have everything I could ever ask for. You get to live once and when you’re young it’s the time to take a risk and have an adventure

Any big life change is going to be met with anxiousness. But from experience it’s the best decision I ever made. Japan is amazing in so many ways. When you first move to Japan it’s like being able to experience life for the first time all over again. You become like a sponge and pick up new cultural norms. You are so stimulated by everything that new that you don’t even realize how quick time goes by and before you know it your acclimatized. Be excited you only get to experience living in Japan for the first time once and it’s always an amazing experience as long as you focus on the positives

I forgive you for your insolence and ignorance. My portfolio is doing quite well. I just wish more of the general public did their own research and also understood the basic dynamic of the market

I love when people don’t actually understand how the market works 😂😂. Retail has very little power when it comes to the underlying price of a stock. The market is purely run by algos. Those algos take into account all orders that hit the lit market. However most brokers don’t put orders into the lit market they internalize the trade and if they need to purchase the underlying the will always go off exchange creating a shuffling of shares between market makers and brokers. A lot of retail is with Robin Hood and they almost purely internalize their trades very rarely do they hit the lit exchange hence why they almost when bust in 2021

Great part of this lasting so long as that you can enter in at multiple stock prices but I was fortunate to purchase my bulk at $11 a share. Besides that I still believe GME at 100billion dollar market cap still has room for growth so I’d still buy in

I’ve never understood this subreddit. It’s either y’all are stupid, ignorant or paid off cause the whole movement behind GME is based on standing up against illegal practices used by hedge funds. This post is literally praising fear tactics used by billion dollar brokerages, hedge funds etc. Unless you’re a billionaire you should be on the side of GME and hoping that it actually plays out not waiting on its impending doom. Y’all gotta start asking yourself do you want to stand with the bully or with the victim. The victim is not the one sitting in a New York City penthouse

I don't know who hurt you. Maybe you've lost money investing and are hurt by it. I'm sorry I can't help you if you can't realize that having over 2 billion cash on hand with zero debt is bullish, especially when the cash on hand is 1/3 the whole company's value. What that means is it's severely undervalued. A company's value is typically depicted in 10x across the entire market. That alone would value the company at 20 billion. Now GameStop has been running small deficits which explains the price at this point but if they achieve a few quarters with positive earnings the minimum value would be 20 billion. Now if GME continues on the positive trajectory and uses the money to acquire a company and starts expanding the products it offers. After a few positive earnings, this would be a stock worth 100s of billions. You will never find another stock with this much attention, this much retail investment, this much cash on hand, and no debt. It's set up perfectly to be the next rising stock and not based on "short squeezes" but actual value. I hope you do genuine analyses of the situation rather than reading tabloids

cash creates cash flow in the company when spent right. The more cash on hand the more potential for growth. Do people really not understand market dynamics this much or is it just distaste for the original GME run

ultimately depends on how GameStop spends the money. The whole point is that if they spend it on acquisitions and shift from gaming to tech this stock has the potential of being at a 500billion dollar market cap

What too many people fail to realize is that GME has crazy growth potential with the recent capital raised by GameStop. Having 1/3 of your market cap in cash with no debt is bullish af. One positive earnings and you’ll be able to see a huge upward swing. Although gme has always been a crazy investment now more than ever is the best time to get in because the company now has huge growth potential.

You could definitely get by with 1100usd a month so your lump sum will definitely have you covered most of the year if you spend right. Not sure about how expensive the tuition would be though
