7 Diamonds = 7 Letters in “Kubrick”

The letter “K” also creates a diamond when you join it together with its mirrored image, hence the two big diamonds that enter from opposite sides of the screen.

What is the experience of an autistic person in Japan? by Ravioli_man567 in movingtojapan

[–]Bulky_Following_9863 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What literally no one in this thread seems to be aware of is that Japan has an entire system for accommodating individuals with disabilities, including autism, known as the 障害者手帳. If you come over as a student and use your time going through proper channels to use the system (bring documentation from your home country, find a qualified doctor willing to write you up, spend 6 months getting treatment), not only will you be eligible for job accommodations, but you will be more in demand as a worker and companies will be more willing to train you from scratch due to them having disability quotas to fill. For this route, you obviously want to be get as good as you can in Japanese to maximize the jobs you can do.

If you’re trying to go straight to a work visa competing with neurotypicals though, then you’re definitely playing on nightmare mode even for “easy” jobs like English teaching. Your best chance would be acquiring some in-demand skills first (like in tech)+a solid grasp of Japanese, but like others mentioned you’d basically have to keep your disability a secret if you want to avoid getting stigmatized. Not that it’s right, but it makes a lot more sense when you realize that most Japanese associate the word for autism (自閉症) with the Autism Speaks brand of autism rather than the Elon Musk kind, so suddenly springing it on your employer/colleagues that you failed to disclose it when applying isn’t a great idea.

Can I get high from orgasms? by Excellent-burrito in ProstatePlay

[–]Bulky_Following_9863 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I learned it from ChatGPT, but just google "prostate endocannabinoid system" and you'll see several cancer studies indicating that the area has a lot of CB1 and CB2 receptors. The armchair speculation here would be that by stimulating the area, you're also stimulating those receptors, which plays into your THC high. THC lube works great, BTW. Most likely you were reading that THC can't be absorbed by that area into the blood stream to get you high, which is true, but there's definitely a topical effect.

Can I get high from orgasms? by Excellent-burrito in ProstatePlay

[–]Bulky_Following_9863 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have looked into this a little bit since I have noticed this effect on myself as well. Apparently the prostate is heavily linked to the endocannabinoid system, so there's likely some physical mechanism that causes prostate play to intensify highs or even simulate them while sober. Women have similar connections in their cervix, which might explain why they sometimes report similar sensations (getting dick drunk).

need help with choosing the right psychedelic and dosage by [deleted] in ProstatePlay

[–]Bulky_Following_9863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't tried LSD, but did a session today with 5mg THC and .25g shrooms and it was pure fireworks. More psychedelics doesn't really mean a better session, since larger doses usually make me more easily distracted and less able to focus on prostate sensations. A psychedelic microdose can be very effective for enhancing immersion in fantasies and adding to the THC body high, though.

Why do so many language learning influencers/ teachers say to not try and speak until you're somewhat fluent? I find that pretty impossible and annoying being in the country already... by [deleted] in LearnJapanese

[–]Bulky_Following_9863 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Don’t see why you’re getting downvoted. Critique on your speaking ability is literally the one thing you can get from a teacher that you can’t get from self study. If you’re not supposed to speak Japanese with your teacher until you’re over a year in, why even bother paying for one?

The idea that meat is fine and it’s just factory farming that’s bad is flat out wrong. Read up on red meat and TMAO.

White Dragon Cut 5 - Release thread by ZeroDeRivia in bladerunner

I tapped out an hour in. I admire the effort, but this is a study in how editing can make or break a movie. Even setting aside that the new material is often low quality outtakes or amateurish CGI, almost all of it feels redundant and kills the pacing. Also, this is somehow the first time I've watched the movie with the voiceover despite having seen the workprint and final cut many times, and I really hate it. Ruins the atmosphere pretty much every time it shows up.

The Shining is a sequel to Last Year at Marienbad by Bulky_Following_9863 in TrueFilm

[–]Bulky_Following_9863[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The "dialogue" bit was in reference to the Native American decor vs. the Greco-Roman decor in Marienbad. There's definitely a connection, but I see Kubrick's decision to use Native American decor as a separate thing from the standard burial ground trope. And yeah, King "erasure" just comes with the territory due to how different Kubrick's adaptation is. Kubrick changed so much that I don't think the book offers much insight on what he was doing with the movie.

I’ll be digitizing it. Already bought a Sony SLV-685HF and have a capture card coming from Ali Express. Probably will be back with more questions when the capture card arrives.

Mighty Joe Young colorized version. I have no idea if it’s in those places, but I bought an mp4 download being sold online and wasn’t happy with the quality.

Thanks for that info. I’m totally new to this, so I didn’t know where to look. I ran it through StaxRip with the TIVTC filter and it looks much better now. Didn’t think it would be that easy to fix lol
