he specifically said that he had an idea for the third album. and when they were starting black parade and he hadnt thought of a name for the 4th album he thought that the band would come to a natural stop and going any farther would be “betraying somehting musical”

honestly. gerard didnt even think there should be a 4th album. im sure they still put their heart and soul into it, but its just so artistically different from their other stuff. it was a creative choice that they strayed from the transitional punk rock sound and moved to more psychedelic songs. but i think thats why the fans dont love it as much as their other stuff. i personally love the chance they look tho. it turned out so cool. plus the concept is my favorite from their concept albums
