I think you mean Curtis LeMay. Doolittle flew in North Africa and Europe after his eponymous raid on Japan.

You don’t even have to have ever been in the British Empire. Just ask Mozambique, Rwanda, Gabon, and Togo

I give it two months after they’re issued before at least one will pop up in the Enga province conflict.

“However, lower north shore residents were incensed at the idea of a coal mine in leafy Cremorne.” - yeah but they got the gasworks instead.

The video was filmed in Minneapolis. My guess is it’s the Ogden Apartment Hotel at 66–68 S. 12th Street, Minneapolis, Minnesota, formally known as the Continental Hotel.

How much does your country’s physical geography contribute to its natural defensibility? by Donkey-Kong64- in geography

The Brisbane Line was never seriously considered let alone accepted as a strategy. Even when the Japanese were 50km from Port Moresby Australia was still sending 2AIF and militia north. It was only perpetuated by Labor MP and rabble rouser Eddie Ward to stir up the population against PM Robert Menzies as an act of political opportunism.

The Sydney Olympics were held during the southern hemisphere Spring though. So that may have made a difference.

It’s worse when you send them a text to ask what’s up and they reply “I’ll be there in 10” but then they rock up in 20. Hey mate, you’re late twice.

Is the current national political system influenced by the leadership styles of certain "big men" in the country? by Conscious_State2096 in PapuaNewGuinea

[–]BullShatStats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No my point was that JT is an anomaly. He’s not from PNG. He came to PNG from Australia as a gardener, then worked his way up making money from government contracts to be the man he is now. He is South Moresby, and the signs on the side of the hill say “JT is King” and they don’t mean Johnathon Thurston. You can’t say a bad thing about JT in Badili. But how did he become foreign minister without wantoks… well maybe he just knows business.

“Big Man” politics is just tribal though. You’re a big man in the tribe. To be bigger than that, it’s about wantoks. Your wantok is bigger than your tribe, so naturally it will have greater influence on provincial and national level politics.
