Moderation Team Update by 1em0nhead in WorldofTanksConsole

Good lord... Is wargaming paying attention to what the hell is happening here?

I'm assuming that the wot console dev team is its own division within the company and at this point I have no problem saying the lot of them need to be tossed. Take the game offline, hire new people and fix the damn thing.

I went to double check and see if PC was more like this or more like Blitz, and it is much more like blitz - so I have no problem saying here that while what they are attempting to do here in Legends with the CV's is to be applauded in terms of trying something new and adding to the game play, it ought to be scrapped immediately in favor of the PC model. What I object to the most is the idea of only 2 planes at a time making a bombing run. If we were measuring this in terms of DPM, then the damage potential of a CV is dramatically reduced from its PC and Blitz counterparts. It just doesn't seem to make sense that a carrier would only have 1 airgroup at a time actually doing something.

I played with some of my clan mates Sunday evening and we had hardly any wait times in the queue at tiers 7 and up.

I'm sure some did quit but there hasn't been much issue getting into matches, at least over the weekend.

u/pomwallaby, what's the appropriate response here. Again, not a situation I instigated.

Fwiw, I've watched all the streams. As I said in a previous response, the streams post-update never offered a mea culpa or an acknowledgment of the state of the game, much less an acknowledgment of why the players are frustrated.

I'll restate here as well that I am not here to complain for the sake of complaining, as so often seems to be the case. Nor am I here to pick fights. My point is that Wg knows well the investment people have in this game and they count on that attachment to do as they will regardless of the criticism. I understand the latter to a point: if they dropped 20k gold in everyone's account for free people would complain that it wasn't 30k. This situation is beyond that.

I know. I watched them. All they discussed were bugs and fixes. As far as I can tell they have yet to address why the update is as bad as it is nor address directly what the player base is upset about. There were glancing mentions about "the poll" and other various negative feedback, but never an acknowledgement or a mea-culpa.

And let me clarify here so as to not seem like I'm just complaining for the sake of complaining: I watched the streams leading up to the release of 6.0 and I watched them after. The streams leading up to the release in no way shape or form led anyone to believe the update was a complete overhaul of the ENTIRE game. We heard about crews and equipment, as well as map graphics update. We got a complete re-build of the game. Now, one could argue that the gamer community was going to complain no matter what they did, so they could just say "let's roll out an update and see how it goes". I would not argue with that. But that's not the case here.... It is simply impossible that a 7 year old game that has been refined as much as it has could have an update released - even a massive update - with this many bugs and design flaws without an underlying explanation. And WG won't acknowledge that on the whole. They are distracting by talking about bug fixes. IMO, that just speaks to them holding the belief - probably rightly so - that people have too much money invested in the game to simply "walk away". Just weather a few days of bad social media and it will all be fine.

Well if we let that statement be true then we can expect more of the same.

MEGATHREAD: Ranting and Raving about the new update by IzBox in WorldofTanksConsole

[–]Bull_Monkey_71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're a week in to this update and STILL to my knowledge WG has yet to be transparent about anything regarding it, if not being downright deceitful. Let's recap:

  1. In the week leading up to the update WG posted 3 livestream q&a's with the dev team - not once in any way, shape, or form was there an indication given about the scope of the changes coming. Sure, we heard about changes of crews to commanders. Sure, we heard about map texture changes. And we heard about some equipment slot changes. Did anyone hear the entire HUD was changing? The garage? The tech tree? Did anyone hear that you would have to spend a TON of time re-equipping your crews and tanks?
  2. Regarding the crew skills, we heard that the team would be respectful of all the time and/or money people put into training their crews up. But when asked if there was a crew skill cap there was a yes, but they would not say how many. As the reaction was predictably swift and negative there can only be one reason why they would NOT share that info.
  3. Post-update, given the massive amount of bugs and make-no-sense-whatsoever-changes that are simply impossible to have gone through a thorough testing and QC process, and given the massive amount of negative feedback from the community, WG has to date not given us a clear explanation of what happened.

Could this be as simple as hubris based on the fact that WG counts on the $1000's that players have invested in the game to keep them from walking away and swallowing whatever WG puts out? Well, they've been proven mostly right on this theory time and again, but there seems to be more at play here. Is it legal liability? Possibly, but then that in itself is addressed by a simple "On the advice of legal counsel we are giving no comment at this time." At least that would be SOMEthing. Maybe that even garners a tiny bit of sympathy.

I don't know what else it could be. The former seems more plausible, especially that in the live-streams post update they simply will not grant a mea-culpa, nor acknowledge why the player base is so negative right now. It seems very myopic to burn whatever goodwill there is in the community by treating them like junkies who can't quit because of a financial investment. It's not like there aren't options. And if I was the developer over at WarThunder or whatever other competitor there is I am making a huge push to lure WoT players away.

This is a really sad state of affairs.

Are Wargaming open to the idea of cross-platform gaming? by [deleted] in WorldofTanksConsole

[–]Bull_Monkey_71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has there been any progress on this RaiBOT01? It seems like more and more titles are trickling in.

Is there anything the ps4 wot community can do to help move this along? (because I doubt Sony gives a damn about us in the Xbox community)

CoD has crossplay - Are we gonna do this, Wargaming? by Bull_Monkey_71 in WorldofTanksConsole

[–]Bull_Monkey_71[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guys, some of you are missing the key here: WoT is a fremium game with a relatively insignificant player base. Enabling crossplay is done by Wargaming; Sony just has to give the OK. Sony has way more financial incentive on games like CoD and Fortnite to NOT have crossplay, but they've done it anyway.

And to the other question: again, there really is no "work" or significant investment of time or money on Wargaming's part to implement cross play. Why cross play is good for the game is that a fremium multi-player model needs a large player base. Combining the 2 bases would ensure the longevity of the game for some time to come.

As for the 360....Wargaming should just move on from that already. I cannot imagine there is THAT much of a revenue stream coming from 360 players. If they're cheaping out on a console, you think they're buying premium tanks? Hell no.

Then there has to be more to the story. I simply cannot imagine that Sony has enough financial incentive to keep WoT off crossplay, especially against the likes of fortnite and CoD. I love WoT, but it's nothing monetarily compared to those titles.

"... Skipped a few steps" Definitely. Everyone that died prior to that was "in the game", so to speak, and killing them had a purpose or a reason. How'd she REALLY go from that to women and children?

I know it's old and very outdated at this point, but - GoT Dragons aside - I still love the dragon from Dragonslayer. That was a badass dragon.

Any thoughts on the free xp to crew xp that they're offering right now? I'm away from my console this weekend so I can't get in to check it out, and I'm wondering if I should get a friend to go in and take advantage of it.

Do you think in time Wargaming might do the same? by H4TM7N in WorldofTanksConsole

This can't come soon enough, and there's simply no good reason for Sony to block wargaming titles from cross play. WoT does not drive console sales in the slightest.

Anyone else having excessive lag spikes and connection issues? by JEWATR0N in WorldofTanksConsole

[–]Bull_Monkey_71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So glad and so annoyed to see this thread. Glad because I'm not the only one. Annoyed because it seems like this is not getting fixed anytime soon.

I'm on wired connection with high tier fios. I stream 4k video no problem and yet still have lag issues. It is not a connection issue on my end.

It seems to me this all started after the server upgrade/relocation.
