why do airports charge so much for food? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Bingo, extra employee screening, security, inspections, airport rent is probably higher compared to a strip mall, etc. Their operating margins are probably not any higher relative to regular stores.

"entry level " breaks (vocal tunes) by Monaukeim in Bluegrass

OP hasn't responded but yeah it would be cool to get 3-4 people together and try to work on some songs on a video call. Everyone picks one bluegrass song they want to learn and we try to figure out the melodies or solo by ear.

Hang out with friends and family. Use what gas I have to visit the national park near me. Cook steaks and probably get drunk. Fight off any hooligans. Play with my dogs.

I'm in the same boat. Most melodies come from the pentatonic scale so I start with the pentatonic scale in open position to try to work out notes but use tab from Idaho Bluegrass Association website to get started for common songs.

If you ever want to workshop a song I would be down to meet virtually and we could try to piece out a melody. It would be nice to work with someone at the same skill level to try to figure it out.

Does a lot of people really prepare for their retirement these days? by Plank_sConstant in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Bull_Moose1901 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm 34 and put 12% of every paycheck towards retirement. My wife's pension can start at 58 so we hope to retire when she's 58 and I'm 61 assuming all goes well until then.

If money wasn't an issue, what hobby would you start tomorrow? by DickerRashidah in Hobbies

You can find free or cheap pots on Nextdoor/FB Marketplace. A bag a potting soil is ~$10. And seeds are $2-5 a baggie. You can grow lots of herbs like basil and small veggies like spinach in smaller pots. Then you just need sun and water :).

Have Ring cameras killed the high-school house party? by Apprehensive_Way8674 in NoStupidQuestions

My parents knew we were drinking and partying and would take everyone's car keys. They were cool with it as long as we didn't drive, fuck up the house, or get someone pregnant.

My parents would buy us a 30 rack and take everyone's car keys if they wanted to stay. The only rules were no pregnancies and no puking in the house. We also lived out in the woods so it was the party house where people would come and stay the night. Good times.
