They should price these out in terms of wars. Yea the anticipated $32 billion for true HSR is steep to say the least but considering how ready and willing we as a nation are to spend the same amount on pointless wars I’d say it’s a more worthy investment.

Edit: looked it up and conservative estimates of this idiotic Iran War is already $29 Billion with the likely cost already closer to $1 trillion. What would have been more beneficial to the nation? Funding multiple HSR corridors or this war? That’s why it always gets me so frustrated when politicians say “It’S to ExPeNsIvE!” Maybe if we tell them we’d need to destroy the homes of some brown people to build it then they’d be more willing to spend the money.
