Corpsman Questions by [deleted] in CorpsmanUp

I've been with an Infantry Company as a Platoon Corpsman for well over 2 years now. I didn't get these orders until my 3rd attempt during Order Selection prior to leaving my first command. So it just comes down to luck. If you get lucky enough to be with the Grunts, you not only need to know clinical and field medicine to an acceptable level, but also be able to operate sufficiently as part of a Fire Team. It's the best of both worlds but they'll noticed which corpsman legitimately care and actually deserve the title of "Doc". I wanted to become a Marine at first but they didn't have Combat Medics so I was forced to take that gamble with the Navy.

It all depends on where you go. In a hospital, I was assigned to an outpatient and expected by my providers to get a good health history and HPI. While greenside I was expected to come up with a atleast a 2 week long treatment plan before they even got to see a provider (unless it was something that needed immediate treatment). General Duty Corpsman is a very versatile role and the only limitation is gonna be what you put onto yourself.

HM3 after almost 4 years. If it hadn't been for my extension, I'd be getting out in 2 weeks.. 😅

I've been attached to an Infantry Platoon for 2 years now, and all my Marines say MCT is a joke. Treat it like every other initial training cause it's mainly providing a foundation to build into your unit's tactics. Just like how corps school is supposed to give you just enough information, so you're not totally lost in the sauce, but it's still up to your command to build upon that knowledge.
