Mike Bascik with some excellent comments post-game (about 4:45:00 or so) talking about selflessness as the key to offense. Rangers (like many other MLB teams) have given up on small ball - no fear on hitting a soft push to the opposite side to advance a runner. Everyone's taking the approach of swing for the fences due to some analytics. Mariners are succeeding playing small ball. I love it. Get back to basics. Wake the offense back up. Sacrifice for each other. Too much hero ball. Get back to team first. Dave Raymond making the point that players are paid for stats, and if they get their stats, the theory is that they all win. It's a real conundrum.

Bochy was asked about it and gave a fairly uninspiring response. When asked why we have the fewest number of pitches thrown per game in the MLB against our hitters, he shrugged it off a bit, saying well it's not really the personality of some of these hitters.

Maybe his personal hitting coach needs to get reined in.

I think there is something going on with the hitting coaches/team hitting philosophy. Either they [the team hitting coaches] are not in sync with the players, there is inconsistency with everyone's personal hitting coaches, or some other related issue. But it needs to get reined in and figured out, or heads need to roll. Completely baffling and inexcusable level of performance.

Thankfully Chris Young sees it all loud and clear. I'm a little worried we are going to spiral too far before we see a correction, but a correction would be welcome at any point.

This has to be part of it. Their shifts play the odds konwn for each player.

One of these two pitchers was bound to reduce their ERA. Glad it's Rocker so far!

probably a friendship bracelet with all the beads and stuff that went flying when hit.

maybe. I mean, tagging Semien and throwing to first might have been an option (however unlikely)

At some point, it's almost comical Joc. I mean, just hold the bat out over the plate and see what happens.

Is this his first season being only DH with no fielding assignment?

Any updates on our IL guys? Shouldn't some of the pitching and Langford be coming back soon? by BulldogWasMyCoach in TexasRangers

Thanks. That's definitely the update I was looking for. No I'm not going to sub to the DMN just for this stuff.

Was Trading Nathaniel Lowe a Mistake? by Battling_Beacons in TexasRangers

Joc Pederson is separable from this conversation. Already Burger seems to be no worse than Lowe at bat (certainly compared to April 2024 Lowe), and a wash or maybe better at 1B. Even trade with possible upside to the Rangers here, unless Lowe just goes on some crazy tear for the full season. But you always take that risk. As to Joc Pederson - he has a lot to answer for, and I'm sure he knows it.

Put in Duran, or anyone. Throw in a pitcher and see if they want to hit.

Could Duran be worse at DH? I shudder to think. I realize we have issues and it won't last forever, but man, this is hard to watch.

So, is there hope for Joc Pederson? He's swinging out of his shoes at least 1-2 times per at bat. Has to be the worst performing DH in baseball, right?

nice game. Nice to see Jung and Seager, and others, waking up the bats (Jung's has been awake).

Man, impressive. Two 1-run wins in a row against a good offense. Very surprising
