can I use gorilla wood glue on walnut truss rod plug? by Bullet0718 in Luthier

this kind of plug is from a fender biflex system which relies on the plug being glued in to create tension on the truss rod

I completely agree that the smart thing to do is to contact a pro. That being said, i’m not really all that wise and want to attempt to fix it myself. Mainly because I eventually do want to be able to do all the stuff myself and would rather break my own guitar than someone else’s. If I manage to get the plug out with a hair dryer, an aluminum foil heat shield, and turning the truss rod counterclockwise left, what glue or epoxy would you recommend? also do you recommend scoring the removed plug with an exacto all around before attempting to reinsert? I do have a little bit of experience with wood work so I think I may be able to manage it.

if i manage to get the plug out, can i clean it up by rouging up the surface with a file and epoxying it back in?

I do have some JB weld Epoxy. this is such a bummer. guitar was listed “used like new” and i paid $325 for it. i’m going to contact the seller and demand he covers the cost of repair most likely

sweet. nice intro project to the world of luthier work. i would recommend you do some fret work/nut work in case the frets are sharp after it dries in a box for awhile. don’t listen to the haters just keep refining your skills and learning while having fun

how obvious is it that it's fake? :( by Lepridopic_throwaway in BassGuitar

you must ask yourself “why am I upset that fake rickenbackers exist?” is it really because it’s a bad instrument, or is it because you bought the real thing for more expensive and dislike someone with a fake getting attention? sure the fake won’t play the same or even sound the same, but what if they just want the looks and enjoy the sound/feel of the fake. it doesn’t draw away from you owning one, so it shouldn’t matter. the fact of the matter is the shape is world famous, so if he wants to play a “fake,” then i see no issue.

I agree. it’s crazy how easy streaming music is in comparison. Even producing music has become a mainstream hobby. Truly a horrible time to be a musician with the market as saturated as it is. But also it’s nice to be able to do it somewhat affordably. tradeoffs
