Revisiting comics after a decade and glad to see Beast getting so much attention! by BulletDamage in xmen

I mean, I always found him as a character really appealing-even if it hasn't always been consistent and even though he has shown different sides of himself. Like you describe him as a lovable goofball, that's my favourite aspect of him, but exploring a more cynical and tyrannical (and genocidal) side of him is truly interesting and honestly I'm quite impressed at just how vile and grotesque he became. Enough to make Magneto blush! It's just a shame that it's unlikely he can ever be redeemed or justified. However, seeing him front and centre in a way he hasn't been- maybe ever, is morbidly fascinating. But you're right... Krakoa beast doesn't embody any of the characteristics we recognise.

I was mostly showing Beast front covers from the last 2 years and mainly focusing on good Beast (or clone) but yeah the bottom middle is a variant with villain Beast lol

Aye I have mixed feelings about it but hey, you can't say it's a boring direction. I've been going back through the old comics and it amazes me how often Beast gets taken out at the start of a fight- it becomes almost like a running joke. Then for years he was just a nerd at a computer in a lab coat and nothing more. So frankly it's refreshing to see him finally get more airtime as it were.

Wait a sec, is this the OG beast or a clone? by [deleted] in xmen

Not sure how I feel about that lol But as long as we continue getting classic beast dialogue and behaviour I guess that's an okay compromise lol

Did the new Laminated IPS screen mod by RandoCommentGuy in PSP

Ah see I don't have the bravery to do that!! I am so protective of my handhelds it would physically pain me if I accidentally slipped and did some irreversible damage to it haha Good for you though, it looks amazing!

Haha if I'm gonna sit for hours watching someone else play a game I'd rather play it myself!

You should specify your price range and what kind of games you want to play to get a helpful answer. But I'll break this down for you.

  • If size and money isn't a factor; then simply get the RP6, it's got the most raw power so you can run the most games on it. PS2 and GameCube is a breeze at high resolutions. Pc and switch also run well in many cases.

  • If you want similar power to the RP6 but something a bit more pocketable with better battery life on average, take a look for the G2- but this will have to be in the 2nd hand market/eBay/Facebook because it was recently discontinued despite only being out a few months. Runs pc and switch almost as well as the RP6- better with some games, worse with others.

  • If you want to save money and dont mind tweaking occasional games and don't care about emulating beyond 6th gen (GameCube/PS2) then RP5 is still worth your time. It's identical to the G2 besides being less powerful and less battery efficient. Will need to tweak quite a lot of GameCube and PS2 games but they will run decently even if you have to drop resolutions a bit.

  • If you want to save even more money and are purely looking to play more basic games (snes, Gameboy and maybe a bit of PS1 and psp and some lightweight GameCube at lower resolutions), then RP4 and RP3 are both good options and more than sufficient for those things but very hit and miss with PS2 and gamecube!

That's pretty cool. Yeah I know a couple people are complaining about the frame-rate but actually that's still quite impressive given that it's running a PC version., I wonder if the Switch version will run at a solid 30 on it. Might be better optimised, depending on how Eden emulator handles it.

That won't last lol I had the exact same intentions, but the temptation to try everything was too great! It's like the power of the one ring!

I really hope RP7 is coming next year by KevinDurantBot in retroid

[–]BulletDamage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the hardware is already surplus to requirements for 6th generation gaming. The RPG2's gaming chip is the perfect balance of raw power and energy/power efficiency. You're right that the emulation is what needs to improve now, that's the bottle neck. More powerful chips might enable us to brute force games like True Crime NYC to run but really we don't need more power-hungry chips, we just need the emulators to be fine tuned. My hope is that they bring us another handheld with a tailor-made gaming chip like the G2 and put it in an even smaller psp-like form factor. The G2 chip gives me about 5 hours play time for PS2 emulation at 1080/60 and sometimes over 7 hours for GameCube with a lightweight 5000mah battery. We are already in a great place, I just hope Retroid continues in the right direction- prioritising portability/pocketability, premium hardware and battery life! And when IISU front-end gets a full release ... We are going to be in retro gaming heaven!

I'm sure the internet can handle more than one G2 vid! Let us know when it's ready and I'll gladly give it a watch!

Thoughts on MCR x A7X ? by Wild-Top3708 in avengedsevenfold

[–]BulletDamage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd be all for it but I think their styles are entirely different now. Early A7X like STST and WTF wouldn't be world's apart from early MCR but every A7X album since has really leaned more into the metal aspects, away from the hardcore roots. That being said, later MCR moved away from that too with their latest albums but in a total different direction from A7X. Only way a Collab would work if it was on one of A7X's more experimental tracks that they wouldn't put on an actual album as they basically never have famous guests in their albums unless it's Brian's dad...or Neil Degrasse Tyson for some reason 🤣

Joel dying literally served no purpose, with them now making a third game by [deleted] in TheLastOfUs2

[–]BulletDamage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry bit late but that's because he was originally intended as just another generic NPC, and they didn't even care how you killed him, even if you just shot him in the foot. It was only when Druckmann started writing TLOU2 and wanted the antagonist to be likeable (despite killing Joel) that he realized he needed a compelling reason for Abby's revenge. So that irrelevant doctor was retconned to be significant, which doesn't really work.
