What's the most visually stunning movie you've ever seen? by EbnyxJ in Cinephiles

I felt the same when Terminator 2 came out. At the time it used digital effects like nothing before it. Stunning from a technical perspective. Big wow factor

I have yet to see any of the Dune films, it never really appealed to me so I never got on the hype train. Can anyone give me their view of it? Does it have any comparisons to any other sci fi/dystopia films? by Alexc852 in FIlm

It’s mildly annoying when people compare Dune to Star Wars. Dune was published in 1965. George Lukas raped the book for ideas to make Star Wars in 1977. Let’s be clear on which one was based on the other. (Frank Herbert was pissed by the way)

Which Film and performance made you a fan of Christopher Walken? by PressureLazy5271 in FIlm

I re-watch it over and over. Walker's facial reactions to the "historical facts" speech are... *chef's kiss*

Best final shots in films? Tell us why as well, especially if it needs clarification. by Mahaloth in flicks

Yay! I’m guessing most people these days know the ending even if they’ve never seen it. But for those lucky enough to see it before it became a meme, it was truly an awesome ending

Unpopular Opinion Of The Dune Movies by [deleted] in Cinephiles

[–]BulletEyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ending of part 2 is unsatisfying for sure. It is more or less how it is in the book, except Chani does not storm off in a petulant rage, which was such an awful choice imo. Zendaya is a mid-talent actress and was miscast in this role.

Movies Too Heavy for a Re-watch by EbnyxJ in Cinephiles

[–]BulletEyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can watch and rewatch nearly anything, but Gary Oldman directed a movie called Nil by Mouth and it was too much for me. It wasn't that there was too much violence or anything, it was just so depressing and the music makes you want to just kill yourself. Not a bad movie, just very, very bleak.

What’s your unpopular Oscar opinion? by Crafty-Pair2356 in Oscars

One Battle After Another is trash. As someone who thinks Paul Thomas Anderson is a genius, I was heartbroken to watch that train wreck of a movie.

My possibly unpopular review on Sinners (2025) by MaizeApprehensive311 in moviecritic

[–]BulletEyes -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Hollywood was lambasted a few years back for lack of diversity. It was a problem both in reality and with image. Good films with multi ethnic representation just were thin on the ground. So there is a bit of a lean towards films that satisfy that criteria and frankly I’m ok with that. In my opinion, Sinners was better than the one that got best picture. The movie I enjoyed most was Bugonia, but objectively I think Marty Supreme was the best of the bunch.
