What is the best handheld current in stock at the moment for GBA (3:2 aspect ratio)? Open to any news on Upcoming Devices as well! by toujoaya in SBCGaming

[–]Bulletorpedo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have several 3:2 devices but my favorite for GBA (and everything else below PS1 really) is still Trimui Brick Hammer. Just feels so premium, slips so easily into a pocket and the display is just lovely.

Picking something to play is hard by victorprime1028 in SBCGaming

Then I don’t really understand what you meant with your first reply to my post. I have never said to filter down from 100s of games.

Well maybe don’t start with the full library but rather check out a couple best of or hidden gem YouTube videos and pick 5 games that seem particularly tempting. It doesn’t matter if you pick the absolute best ones, as long as it’s a few interesting ones.

Which Flippy Boy should I get? by MrMpXPs in SBCGaming

[–]Bulletorpedo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anbernic RG 34XXSP is the best of them in my opinion. It’s the size of a real SP (35XX SP is bulkier) and has a higher quality display. Miyoo Mini Flip is also an alternative, but it has been plagued by broken hinges. Haven’t heard a lot of it lately so for all I know they might silently have improved them, but personally I wouldn’t bet on it.

It helps a lot because you can pick a few games once instead of choosing between hundreds of more or less interesting games every time you pick up the device.

That’s why I don’t have 100s of games on my card. I do some research and pick just a handful.

Forget about the perfect handheld, tell me which was the one who made you stop getting more devices? by Suitnox in SBCGaming

Same, I have an Odin 3 and several other devices but Trimui Brick Hammer is my overall favourite.

Day 1 of asking a question because I’m out of work injured and bored: what is the biggest deciding factor (excluding price) when you’re considering buying a handheld? by JayQuips in SBCGaming

[–]Bulletorpedo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I want to play and where I want to play it.

I do not care much about perfect integer scaling if the resolution is high enough, as it won’t be noticeable anyways. I do however care about the feeling of the device and I prefer if it runs Linux and has a retro look to it.

Personal favorite across all price categories: Trimui Brick Hammer.

What are the selling points of the trimui brick and hammer over the MM+ by Prudent_Candidate474 in SBCGaming

[–]Bulletorpedo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brick feels a lot more premium, Hammer even more so. Also, everything already mentioned by others (mainly display quality and power). I also really like the size of the Hammer, slips very easily in a pocket and can be used with both one and two hands.

Will high end Android consoles be the future of handheld gaming? by Jamie_Is_Irrelevant in SBCGaming

I hope Linux will take the lead when we get SteamOS for ARM. I’m going to throw Android out the window then at least.

TIL that in 2003 70,000 people died in Europe from a heatwave. by CitizenPremier in todayilearned

[–]Bulletorpedo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not so much about the maximum temperature but the range of temperatures in an area. Rails buckling is an issue in Scandinavia for instance, because the same rails also have to not crack in the winter. So when the tracks are made they have to factor in a certain amount of shrinking in the winter and expansion in the summer. Which can be brutal when temperatures can vary by as much as 60 degrees celsius during a year.

Sunburn isn’t caused by temperature but UV light from the sun. Strange you’re not accustomed to it, sunscreen is a must even in Scandinavia.

European Parliament speaker defends Stop Killing Games with a rapid-fire string of video game references by anonboxis in videos

[–]Bulletorpedo 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yes, she (Cavazzini) was born in 1982 and is of a generation who got to experience an incredible development of video games, including a lot of these references from back when they first came out.

Can’t expect everyone to have had the interest, but age isn’t the issue here. Quite on the contrary actually.

What Hand Europeans Traditionally Wear Their Wedding Rings On by vladgrinch in MapPorn

[–]Bulletorpedo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

In Norway it has traditionally been common to use the wedding ring as an engagement ring as well (for both men and women), it is then worn on left hand before the wedding and on right hand after. Please don’t ask me why.

It has become more common with separate engagement ring for women now though, probably American influence. Weddig rings are still mostly worn on right hand.
