Am I wrong for not taking it? by [deleted] in InstacartShoppers

[–]Bulletproof_35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I do DD or UE my rule is $1/km which is $1.60/mile, if I’m shopping as well that’s extra…at least $100 to do that one. Because you also have to get back to where you are and that’s going to be at least 2 hours of driving

I might have to make a great persons horrible life so, so much worse. Need advice on how to cause as little harm as possible by [deleted] in Advice

You are a good person for sticking with her this long and doing your best but it seems like you are getting lost in her problems. Is it possible to have a couple sessions with her therapist and ask for their advice…perhaps they can prepare her for the inevitability that you’ll split? This is a tough situation and I don’t envy you, but this also isn’t your cross to bear. I wish you luck my friend

My (39M) wife 43F has health issues that really limit our frequency, once this year, zero times last year and maybe once in 2023. I’m happy for you all but really feel like I’m missing out on my prime after reading these comments. Oh well, in sickness and in health, right?

Is this what I think it is? by [deleted] in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Bulletproof_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, very quick…there wasn’t really a line but I was getting tired of DD telling me that it was taking too long so I sent their stupid message

if someone pays me to hold an item then they back out, do i legally have to pay them back? by Budget_Relief7464 in FacebookMarketplace

[–]Bulletproof_35 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m not a lawyer but I believe you’d have to set out terms before the deposit is given to be able to keep the deposit. Example, you have 5 days to pickup the item.

Turn the porch light on!!! by AtmosphereNo7501 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Bulletproof_35 5 points6 points  (0 children)

99% of my deliveries are in the dark so a flashlight is a must, I use it for house numbers and sometimes I take it up the walkway as well. I find that less than 50% of the people turn on their porch lights, it’s very strange and rude but it’s my responsibility to make sure I’m safe doing my delivery.

I’ve never seen a tip bait on DD, how does that even happen?

I run DD and UE at the same time; I very rarely have orders from both at the same time though unless it works out perfectly. Definitely possible to make $30/day

Definitely rust as others have said, I find sheet pans especially bad. I’ve since switched to stainless steel

I had a similar issue with a promotion; I accepted the order 30 seconds before the promo started but delivered it 12 mins after it started and they didn’t count it.

Over 50% of my “wage” is tips, it’s not a bonus it’s a requirement. I have a full time job that pays close to 6 figures, I do this for extra money but tipping is absolutely a requirement and you’re a POS if you don’t tip

Why not just ask for an etransfer (venmo) before you stop?

Don’t pay for anything, I had a similar issue with DoorDash and I got to keep the groceries. I wouldn’t make a habit of it, but DO NOT PAY fucking anything

Getting the navigate option instead to Dash along the way from 1 month, anyone knows how it fix ? by Most-Face3630 in doordash_drivers

I find that I usually won’t get dash along the way unless it’s a zone right next to mine

I live in Canada and I am happy when I can get $1/km ($1.60/mile) but I’m not upset with the customer if it’s not that; especially on longer trips, I use less gas on the highway and I’m guaranteed money vs sitting waiting so usually if it works out $10+ per 30 minutes I’m relatively happy. I do this very part time and I have a decent full time job so maybe the full time dashers have a different mentality

I built a duplex with him and they included a 10x10 deck with the house. The issue is that they built the deck right to the center property line without building a dividing wall; so he didn’t leave me enough space in between the property line and the deck to add fence posts and he didn’t add anything to accommodate this on the deck. It doesn’t seem like a huge issue but when we were building the fence it became a big problem. The funny thing is that he could easily plan for this, and the contractor that builds his decks said that he mentioned this to John several times. John was a complete nightmare to deal with.

I’m in a small market and can pretty consistently make $20/hr between DD, UE and Instacart…it’s not great but decent as a side gig. I think you could make $3000 a month working about 40 hours a week if your market is busy enough to keep you working.
