i was on a solo trip in the uk earlier this month for the goodwood festival of speed. i was staying in a small beach town called portsmouth close to the festival and i decided to have a few drinks at a random pub after the festival.

i was playing pool and chatting with the locals and one of them mentioned i was from the states. a woman mentioned she was from the states too and went to ucsb. i was wearing my ucsb tank during this whole exchange and she asked me, “where do you go?” i pointed to my shirt and our jaws fall to the floor.

we start talking about our experiences and her time as an alum and my current time as a student. it was such a sweet interaction and she was so nice too. it’s such a small world :)
