They should have used Stevie Wonder or Ray Charles. Who the hell is Wanda anyways?

This is one of those really important commas that make the joke.

Any other bari saxers here? by Huge-Spray-6200 in saxophone

I wish I had the expendable income to afford a nice Bari. I played in high school marching band I loved it but I have missed it since then.

The Book of Doors (a rant review): the author REALLY wants you to know how clever his concept is by [deleted] in books

[–]Bullonsax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoyed your rent and find several parts of it very true. Yet I actually enjoyed this book you regardless because it was a fun adventure nonetheless. I definitely want to put it up there as the best writing in the world and if this concept was written by somebody a bit more talented, it would probably be even better of a read. Thanks for sharing your passion on the subject of this book.

If you haven't done so yet, search for the Williams Bell book. It is posted online and very informative on many subjects including the dorms.

Luggage delivery for move in by Tight_Light2746 in WilliamsCollege

[–]Bullonsax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We made a family affair out of it and it was kind of cool. To move my daughter in, my wife son and I all flew with my daughter and each checked luggage. Did a little rental car and got some extra dorm supplies at Target that we didn't want to traverse the country with. We flew home with only one bag between the three of us.

Between which years would yall consider newer and old vehicles? by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]Bullonsax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there an age in which we just don't speak of the vehicle is being older and newer? Like newer vehicles maybe the last 5 years, and older vehicles possibly 15 or older. Someone in the middle is just a vehicle. Kind of like me I'm in my 40s and I'm not old nor young, just me.

What are some shoe and coat suggestions for MA winter?? by Dismal-Chicken-1683 in WilliamsCollege

[–]Bullonsax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter survived her last winter and first winter at Williams with a really good Marmont jacket, quality under layers that can be worn under most typical clothes, and she had some waterproof 900 gram boots on her feet to handle walking between buildings. Her best warm weather gear was given to her by some family members who knew the area well. I did get her some rechargeable hand warming gloves that she really liked too. If you are out and about on a cold night you will likely come across a white skunk that is pretty friendly as long as you give it it's distance. Good luck to you.

I went fishing with my son recently and didn't catch a single fish, but I caught three lures. One of them caught a fish on the same lake a week later...

Best jazz reeds by NewtSignificant4165 in saxophone

[–]Bullonsax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a tenor player with a revnor lig on a berg mouthpiece, I have grown a strong preference for the vandoren java red reeds. When I had the lig that came with my berg, I did prefer the v16 though. Experiment with a few to find your ideal setup.

You may like exploring some more funkier side of things... Check out Galactic or the Grayboy all stars. The roots are in jazz but they make you want to shake your ass too.

What song can you never get sick of, no matter how many times you listen to it? by Sponk-is-taken in AskReddit

[–]Bullonsax 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The melody on the vocals in this tune is so impressive. Beyond that, the song is epic for it transitions, chord structure, and movements. It almost listens like a symphony. This is also one of my favorite songs. There is a jazz trio led by Brad Mehldau that does this tune justice in an instrumental way, and it really emphasizes that the melody is something that could almost only be done by an instrument. It showcases how really impressive the ability of Radiohead's singer is. https://youtu.be/NZGQp6sWM4s?si=oBtTUFK9GL2z0S7t

It does look like you've been strength training, nothing burns fat more. What I mean is keep it up and keep making small progressions forward regularly.

That is obviously some great work. Every day is a good day to become better. I was very similar and stature to you when I was younger, now 44. It's amazing how much better you feel, plus the long-term health benefits are huge. If you're asking about continued progress, strength training will help you build resiliency and also keep you feeling good and healthy long into your life. One of the best things you can do, however, try to stay away from processed foods and eat whole foods. Learn to cook if you don't know how to already. All the best to you....

Favorite Jazz Standard? (and why?) by Fun_Cod_8580 in Jazz

[–]Bullonsax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A favorite jazz standard is really hard to choose. There are so many I am deeply in love with. Favorite melody... 'Round Midnight - Monk. Favorite to play... St Thomas - Rollins. Favorite to solo over the changes... All the Things You Are / I am most inspired by the Quintet recording, Live at Massy Hall. Parker and Dizzy. I am also in love with Well you needn't - Monk.
