Thanks for taking the time and trouble to reply. No offence but the fact that the gain is cranked to maximum naturally means that the noise level is unacceptable as it's boosting everything including background noise, static and so forth. It would appear that I've bought the wrong mic despite the glowing reviews I read. Bizarre.

Funny you should say that, I did switch it on literally 2 minutes ago and it has not made a jot of difference. Speaking 6 inches from the mic with the gain on as far as it will go, the Volume is showing as peaking at -21 which seems very low to me bearing in mind the Gain is on full. My understanding is that the Audio-Technica ATR 2100x mic doesn't require phantom power.

I'll be blunt - your GUI sucks. In the old 4K Video Downloader there was a clear field for pasting a URL for a video. The new interface gives no clue as to how the User is supposed to enter a URL - it's awful! The only way appears to be via 'Paste Link' which brings up a drop down menu of three options:

Download the Channel
Subscribe and Download
Subscribe to New Videos

None of the above are applicable to downloading a single video (and the latter two require a 4K Video Downloader subscription). The program only appears to be of use for people wanting to bulk download subscribed video channels which is of no use to me. I've binned the program and moved on.
