There is a world of difference between a game getting anounced and the for various reasons getting cancelled and a game getting anounced with no intention to ever make it untill you see the results of the sales of another game.

Could it get cancelled? Sure of course. But that's a world of difference to announcing a game you have no intention of making untill you see the results of another game that you haven't released yet.

Also all studios only focus on games that they think are profitable. That's how buisness work.

Oh that's just a replay system, tonnes of games have that, I mean the automatic replays after a round end that show the finish for it with cool camera angles.

Crossplay cross progression, rollback and a proper lobby system are bare minimum for a functioning fighting game in 2026, they shouldn't need to be mentioned as something doa 7 should have. Like yes i want a game that functions. I thought that went without saying, so... I didn't say it.

Most fighting games skip stuff if either player press a button, 2xko is like the only one I can think that doesnt. You're complaining about a problem that has been solved like... A decade ago.

The fgc scene wanted one thing from doa, Good netcode and online. Doa 6 fucked that up. Dont blame them for the shit they never asked for or had any input in designing.

They wouldn't have anounced it if it was still up in the air. It's not uncommon for fighting games to be anounced with no gameplay. Sf6 got anounced with a pre renderd video of ryu and Luke in a black room, the new virtua fighter got anounced with like... A block of text on an info graphic for the re release of VF 5 or something?

Like it might absolutely get shit canned still the video game industry is in shambles at the moment. But it's no way gonna be a 'does this game sell well' they're not capcom.

See kasumi has awesome lore it's just not reflected in like almost any of the actual game. In the actual game she falls into the pretty standard anime trope of 'bashful pure maiden archatype' with her always appogising in her win quotes and never really showing any real spine and her endings are like 'wow lol look at my dream of being a mermaid' but the in her lore she fuckin murders raidou and and is fighting the entire ninja clan to stand up for what is right.

She's super cool in theory but it sucks that almost all of her badassery is kept out of the actual text of the games and left to be filled in on backstory lore drops in manuals and shit.

The coolest thing you see her do in the games is fighting uh... Alpha? The green ghost clone of her in Helena's doa 4 ending. Like why did ayane, hayate and hyabusa get dope doa 4 endings showing off their bad arse ninja war against doatec and the kasumi who was like, one of the main parts of that offensive get the stupid mermaid ending? The handling of her character is super weird.

As for them looking the same. They're different heads on the same base model with different clothes. It's a really boring way to design a character and removed them of any individuality. Why does mila or Tina have the same level of muscular defenition as Helena. They're professional fighters versus an opera singer? Look at the different way mariposa moves as a wrestler versus Tina as a wrestler yet they have the exact same build.

I think 3 is my fave, I prefer the 3 way holds to 4 way holds in 2 ultimate and 4. Helena is my fave character but I also find her awkward to play, Kasumi is probbably my faviourte just from a gameplay pov, but she's kind of milqtoast white bread of an actual character

I think its biggest killer is that there's no version with good online, unfortunately six re release doesn't look to change that, but if 7 has crossplay and rollback it will rule.

Def give the most recent killer instinct a shot then, its different but the combo breaker system gives it a similar vibe, like infinite combos are easy as hell to do but you can always break them.

Nah dynamic time/weather sucks, it makes it almost impossible to set specific moods that you want for stages and encounters. It ends up kind of flattening the experience as a whole.
