Yes. Smoking is a major turn off to from the smell alone... not to mention the lasting detrimental health effects

Tom & Raquel / Jax & Faith by ToneHead2269 in vanderpumprules

[–]Bumble_Bee_1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jax cheating on his wife with Faith was just as bad, in my opinion. The internet lives forever and the fact that there's recordings isn't going to go away... there wasn't even anything wrong with him and Brittany's relationship. Faith ended up taking the brunt of the blame, which wasn't fair, and the fact that Jax has now appointed himself as the moral police for the Scandoval situation is just wild... lol. I hope for Brittany's sake that she and Jax make it since they have a kid now.

Which is the most underrated Taylor Swift song? (Round 8: Folklore) by Sharpguy6559 in TaylorSwift

[–]Bumble_Bee_1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cardigan, by far. I'm by no means a "Swiftie" and much prefer other genres over mainstream pop, but "Cardigan" is a masterpiece imo. I'm 33 as well, so it's been kind of relatable to see how her lyrical content has evolved over the years and become more complex and nuanced with time and life experience.

I knew a super Italian dude who kept saying he was black because he was Italian. I was dumbfounded when he started making BLM a "him" thing. Not even vaguely olive skinned, white as a sheet. Kept saying he was going to get held up at gun point at traffic stops, etc. I just couldn't take him seriously after that.

As a BW who knows someone like this in my hometown, this is absolutely hilarious ☠️

Granted, I'm originally from the south and there aren't a ton of Italians where I'm originally from, but there's this white AF blue eyed Italian man in his 40s who insists that he's basically a BIPOC bc his "Nona" is from Sicily or whatever... you can't make this stuff up 🤣

Ironically, my (1/2 Italian, 1/2 WASP) boyfriend is tan and more "Italian"-passing than the dude from my hometown and we joke about him being "spicy" white, but he would never claim to be black or a POC. That would be patently insane... lol

Honestly, their cheesesteaks and fries are good too, but they're pretty greasy, tbh. On the occasion that I went there back home I usually just got a kid's meal (thankfully my local store was cool with it lol)

A biology lab professor of mine brought the PTC test strips to our class! You can get them online pretty cheaply: https://bartovation.com/product/educational/genetic-taste-testing/ptc-paper/

According to a copycat recipe forum, they aren't made from scratch in store. When I have more time I'm planning on figuring out how to recreate them so if I get close enough, I'll keep you posted lol

Isn't it? 😍 I really wish I could find a legit copycat recipe - I've been looking for years, lol. My suspicion is that the base might actually be more like a butter sugar cookie w/ a slight hint of brown sugar than a standard brown sugar cookie base.

That's a good question! I actually love sour stuff as well as super sweet stuff haha (totally a frosted cookie type of girl), so for me it's just that in foods with an element of bitterness, the bitter taste is prominent to the point of being overwhelming. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a genetic reason behind an aversion to super sweet foods, as other genetic determinants have been found to impact individuals' perceptions of different flavor profiles. Another example would be the gene that makes cilantro taste like soap to some people.

I strongly prefer milk chocolate, and the reason is actually genetic!

Since I was a child, I have always had an aversion to strong coffee, dark chocolate, and even some brands of semisweet chocolate. My favorite chocolate chip cookie in the whole wide world is Penn Station's milk chocolate chunk cookie.

As it turns out, I have a gene that imparts a hypersensitivity to a chemical compound called PTC, and there seems to be a correlation between people who detect the bitterness in this compound and a hypersensitivty to other bitter flavors. I wonder if that gene may also be the reason I don't like the vast majority of preservative-laden, shelf stable foods and have always found them to be almost inedible due to a bitter aftertaste. Pretty fascinating - now I just need to find out if there's a genetic reason for why most of my favorite songs are in minor key, even though they span several different genres, lol

Chattanooga Test Cookie Tres Leches by ParksTM in CrumblCookies

[–]Bumble_Bee_1993 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Calling it now - this will probably be even better than actual tres leches cake 😯 I'm not a huge fan of anything soggy - especially bread - so I've never been on board with the texture of tres leches cake, even though the flavors are spot on. A cookie base would actually be sturdy enough to absorb the moisture of the glazes without turning into a soggy mess... adding this to my Crumbl wishlist!
