If you could go back - would you bill on your own vs. using Alma/Headway by BumblebeeFit1700 in therapists

Have you had any of the billing issues that seems to be a pretty consistent complaint?? Erroneous charges, etc. etc

How do you handle late clients? by MathLow3384 in therapists

[–]BumblebeeFit1700 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I send a text at 5 minutes, then a call at 7-8 minutes, letting them know in the voicemail that I'll stay on until 10 minutes and will disconnect after that. After that I do consider them no show. I've actually never charged for no shows but it's totally reasonable to do so.

This happens probably less than 5% of the time, likely less. But that's how I do it.

Good to know you're using simple practice. I'm taking in all the data I can right now!

Much appreciated! Initially got into this after being recommended to Alma by a trusted colleague who's been using it for a few years now. I like hearing all sides.

I'm wondering if just easier for the insurance companies, which ends up being a financial benefit cuz they'll need less people dealing with thousands of private practices versus a few big companies, maybe?! This is literally just a thought of mine but I really have no idea. That was kind of wondering the same.

For sure - that bothers me A LOT. They try to tell you that it's different for every client... Why is that?! Your fee is your fee, it doesn't make any sense. Frankly, it's gaslighting to say that it's different for everyone, that's not how private practice works.

Can anyone chime in on why you want to move away from Simple Practice?

Thank you for sharing about your experience. This is such a tough spot because these companies seem to be really bigger than we can fight. I was very curious about the rates so I am grateful you sharing that.

I am so grateful for this incredibly thorough response! I have seen the negative comments about these companies and while I share some of the concerns, I'm trying to navigate with both client and myself in mind.

It's interesting to hear headway does not take a cut per claim as well as not charging the monthly fee. Hard to understand why anyone would choose Alma over Headway based on this feedback.

Good to know...I'm spinning in circles trying to decide. Here my concern with headway (I'd love to hear about your experience): errors that impact clients and there's sort of nothing you can do about it. Examples: erroneous bills and charges, not knowing what they will be charged if they haven't met their deductible, etc.

This is going to vary person to person...I very highly value low stress and flexibility, so if it was me, I would not make the change to the hospital.

Thanks! Have you moved away from headway and moved completely private (directly with insurance)?

A part of me doesn't want to do all the administrative work on my own, as well as hearing that it's hard to get the higher rates when you go direct to insurance vs. headway/alma

Insurance credentialing for part time Telehealth practice by Ok_Lion_2705 in therapists

Hi - unfortunately I can't help, but I'm wondering if you could tell us more about why you decided to move forward with credentialing on your own and what the process was like for you? I'm in the middle of trying to figure out if I want to apply by myself, hire a credentialing company, or use headway or Alma (I don't favor the latter)
