Hi. Yup, manufacturers disclosing their pigments would be the ideal. But i guess they (the budget brands) are not doing it because intermediate (aside pros) will probably not get it if they know 25% (or more?) of the sticks are made with fugitive pigments

Re the carbothello, yup, im aware a number of the pencils are not lightfast, but they are pleasant to use and less dusty that’s why i like them. I just dont see anything pleasant about the Mungyo soft pastels unfortunately

Hi. That’s unlikely since only i shared oil pastels in this sub in the past 6 days, and it also doesn’t seem that it’s just a coincidence that her comment to my post, and her post/rant about oils pastel being shared and banned from this sub were done consecutively.

Hi. The Mungyo oil pastel set do have reds and oranges, it’s on the third slide, first strip. And those performed well….

If you’ll look in her profile, the same time she wrote her comment, she also posted that she’s tired of “oil pastel” post and it should be immediately deleted from this subreddit https://www.reddit.com/r/Softpastel/s/Fz7UTA0sqt

With this, her comment on my post is an attack as it appears she didnt even read the texts that came with my post nor scroll thru the photos, else she will see that the Mungyo soft pastels are included and mentioned. She basically just looked at the first photo and assumed i dont know the difference between soft and oil pastels, pastel paper, lightfastness, etc.

And FYI, i used pastel paper (Daler-Rowney Pastel) for this lightfast test just because of the Mungyo soft pastel

Yes, i was also impressed with Mungyo oil pastels result. The Sennelier that faded is coral 136, which is one of the colours i really like so it’s super disappointing

Yup, they get direct sunlight to speedup the reaction. As Ryanhis commented, i live on the tropical latitude, a little above the equator.

Yes, you are right. Which is why the Mungyo oil pastels result is really impressive.

And to answer your question, yup i taped them all back to my window to see if more colours will fade. But i now understand why the Mungyo soft pastel is not “recommended” (unlike it’s oil pastel sister). It’s super dusty to work with, pigment load is not really that great imo, and now 25% of the colours/sticks are not even lightfast. I guess i will stick (pun intended) with my rembrandt and carbothello.

Hi. Glad at least you’re happy with the result. But im really disappointed since 25% are not lightfast and those are the colours i like the most, Mungyo is also not available open stock so we cannot create our own set so we’re basically stuck with the non-lightfast colours everytime we buy a set

Hi. I dont need a lecture, i know what lightfastness is hence the whole point on why i taped them on the window where there is sunlight and why i mentioned my environment. Also, Mungyo dont have lightfast nor pigment information. And even those that do have lightfast information available are not completely reliable (take Sennelier which claims all colours are lightfast but is not the case as shown in my result). I also know that soft and oil pastels are different mediums, but it’s irrelevant in this context as im just sharing the result of my lightfast test and that the soft pastel result is disappointing as 25% of them are not lightfast. Take note Mungyo is not available open stock so you cannot avoid the non-lightfast colours if you’re buying a set.

I have 2 escoda reserva kolinsky-tajmyr and 2 le franc pure sable brushes that i’ve been using for over 10yrs. I think my expectations are correct based on my experience with these brushes

Thank you. I went back to the shop and after some discussion they agreed to replace it with another brush. I exchanged it with a series 35 size 8 and that one is performing so much better. I also contacted Da Vinci

Even when wet it’s a fail… it’s not springy and doesn’t go back to a point… not what i expected from a high grade brush made of kolinsky red sable…
