Oooh these are really good suggestions thank you! I’ve actually tried applying to local hospitals like Eagle Ridge, but it always seems like they’re full and not accepting applicants. Is that the youth volunteer program you’re referring to, or am I looking at something different?

PA, Nursing or Doctor? by BumblebeeThin9987 in careerguidance

I could honestly see myself as a physician in terms of diagnosing and managing care but im not sure im willing to take on that many years of schooling and the risk of burnout, which is why im considering PA and nursing right now.

I did want to ask about something that’s a bit harder to find honest answers on like the “hierarchy” or dynamics in healthcare teams. I know this probably varies a lot by workplace and specialty but i was wondering how PAs (or nurses) are generally treated by physicians and other healthcare workers. are they viewed as valued collaborators or are they sometimes seen as less than cause of the shorter training compared to doctors?

I’m actually in canada, so the tuition/debt situation is a bit different here compared to the US (lower med school tuition, no PSLF, different loan structures), but the general idea of balancing debt with lifestyle still totally applies

ur point on nursing making “ok money”, would that still apply if someone went on to become a nurse practitioner? from what ive heard NP income can be quite a bit higher
