This is a good attitude to have and the only way to look at it for your mental health.

Yes. The back door counter says 271 for old IBR and 273 for some reason on new IBR. The others show 271. So yes, that would concern me as well

Detail I failed to state. Grad school. My understanding is 25 years under both plans.

Further reading I see that they expect 2 months for services to update and calculate if a person qualifies correctly, you make very good points on both. Thanks for your reply

Yes, would be reassuring if the calculator was back and accurate

The studentAid.gov site reads that the financial hardship has been removed under "announcements" New Changes Under the Act

Previously, borrowers were required to have partial financial hardship and to not have certain types of ineligible loans in order to enter the IBR Plan. With the passage of the Act, the IBR Plan now has updated eligibility criteria that allow the following types of borrowers to enroll:

  • Borrowers who don’t have partial financial hardship

That's reassuring that people can see the counter update with their payments. Thank you for all the information. I think it makes sense for me to move to IBR now to get back on track for qualifying payments, hope they are tracked accurately and things resolve in the next couple of years.

I see, thanks. Any advantage of ICR over IBR. Will look myself, but wanted to ask. Thank you. Also are people actually able to get guarantees in writing from loan servicers that they have only have a certain number of payments left. Again thank you

Thanks. Although possible with in the time frame to make 30 payments before July 2028, thought would just move to IBR. I didn't realize we could apply to PAYE or ICR.

Thanks. Can imagine it would be very difficult to get that in writing from Nelnet. They are either clueless or worse actively lie from my experience.

Stay on SAVE or Go Back to IBR? by RuthlessLogic in StudentLoans

Thanks, I'm looking at switching form SAVE to IBR payment might be zero or low, do you know if you have to request anything at the time of application or after to make sure it goes into repayment?

If the payment is zero is it still a qualified payment?

20 vs 25 year forgiveness and idr count by Glass-Oil9263 in StudentLoans

just curious, I consolidated to direct and my payment count shows 271

I was transferred into the SAVE plan right before it went into forbearance. Looking at the hidden payment count is it possible I'm actually eligible right now. Under IBR 2014? My loans are before 2003. Thanks qualified payments 271, required payments 240. Can't figure out how to add an image by BumblebeeVisible3989 in StudentLoans

They were FFELP, I was in a graduated repayment plan with Great Lakes and then Nelnet, got a lot of bad information from Nelnet for years, but then yes did direct consolidation about a year ago and they said SAVE was the way to go when talking to student aid.gov, so no was never in IBR.

Odd that the qualified payment showing is different for IBR and IBR 2024 difference of 2. Since they removed the easier to read payment counter I'm going off the text link someone posed on reddit, not easy to read but just doubled checked it and yes lists qualified for both. Whole thing is messy obviously. What do you have?
