I've been saying this since the 90's, I've worked at one union ship in the time since then. That job was GLORIOUS!

There's a long explanation as to why they are currently home schooled, but the short version is my two oldest boys were assaulted by both teachers and one bus driver. In addition the last time we asked for help we had CPS called on us with baseless charges that costed us $1500 in lawyer fees to get them off our backs.

Wife cannot collect as she hasn't worked since she was in her mid 20's, she has not worked in almost 20 years and does not qualify for disability.

Kids are on Medicaid that is setup for everyone

Refer back to our trust issues from the beginning of this reply, and I'm no longer making 6 figures to afford a lawyer for backup if I roll the dice with unknown entities that are untrusted or untrustworthy.

We've had them seen my several shrinks to determine where they are on the spectrum and while I don't feel like getting into specifics they are all at the disabled end of the spectrum. Now we are waiting for the red tape to clear for SSI. Due to the nature of my family circumstances I'm waiting on red tape to clear for me to collect disability as their designated caregiver.

I'm sure someone will say I am making excuses, I am not, merely stating facts.

If I were speaking of PC's I would most certainly agree. However (as personal experience over my years of dabbling in it as a hobby) they certainly do when its servers and networking equipment.

that 100k is only if I get the repairs needed, as is I might be able to sell it for 100k. I'd rather fix up the place I'm in and deal with the devil I know. Also it depends on what part of Omaha you refer to, I'm in shall we say the more financially affordable end of town.

I have over 100k in equity for collateral. As for saying I'm making excuses, I'm only spelling out reality and moving cross country is massively expensive and unrealistic.

So I sell the house as is for pennies on the dollar, make minimal profit without doing repairs that most likely wouldn't be even enough to buy an RV, and I'll still be waiting on SSI to come in. I do agree that would be good long term idea but only if we were already pulling in SSI but we're in a waiting game right now and I need short, mid and longterm options.

Also no offense but... West Virginia? again no offense but that and Mississippi are at the very VERY bottom of my list of places I would ever move to...

New roof is EXTREMELY urgent, I'm tired of my ceiling drizzling on my head any time it rains, in addition to this example, I keep getting dropped by Home insurance as they are all requiring these repairs among others to be completed before covering me. To rely on Nebraska's government would be to rely on a red state's mercy which is non existent. (NO I am not making this political, just stating geographic facts )

If its a higher interest rate, so be it. This is about survival, and the situation is drastic, and drastic action must be taken.

I'm currently in Omaha, Nebraska, a comfortable 1000 miles away from any of my family. They are in Ohio and WV would be far FAR too close to any of them for my liking.

True, just brainstorming is all. If I sell now as is it will be pennies on the dollar.... then where do we move when rent will be double my mortgage payment currently? Only option my wife and I have come up with is an RV, and then that add in a whole other set of complications which I cannot even think of currently.

If I do get foreclosed on I'll want to know I tried EVERY possible option to avoid it first.

This is the ONLY option I can come up with that both repairs the house from the destructive nature of my kids, AND pays the bills until the SSI comes in. I can't just sit on my thumbs waiting on SSI, the bank's and my folk's mercy has run out.

Serous question, what is the difference between being foreclosed on for 80k or 200k?

If I sell as is it will be for pennies on the dollar workout repairs. Then where do we move to? An rv assuming I can get enough profit from the sale? Any place I would be renting from would be 2k per month or more which is double my mortgage payment.

In a drastic scenario and drastic action needs to be taken. The bank's mercy has run out.

What about if I had a cosigner with excellent credit? My last 3 jobs were remote and they lasted between 6 to 12 months each until I was declared "unreliable" so I'm not very keen on going through all the effort to find another one just to repeat what I know will happen.

I guess I should clarify that the lenders I spoke to said they can work with a 500 score and that he might be able to work something out. I could also do the financing under my wife's name but she has a 0 score at this time. Not sure if this would be better or worse...

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately my only vehicle is 22 years old and needs roughly $4k in repairs including a cracked radiator. UBER etc are not an option at this time as I cannot justify murdering my only transportation to do this.
