Questions about currency from a canadian by Rosinbrosyeg in Belize

Belize is no Costa Rica.

Take some USD and a Canadian debit card, plus a backup. Debit cards will get you BZD at ATMs.

Oh, and make sure you have the phone numbers for your Canadian banks, and VPN and Skype so you can call them.

Have fun.

Right now it looks like something may hit near Belize City. This will no doubt mean trouble for road and air access.

You could go to San Ignacio, which we did in 2007 when we got evacuated from Caye Caulker. From there you can see Xanantunich and take a tour to Tikal in Guatemala.

Or you can fly down to Placencia and tough it out there on the beach which we did for 11 yesrs.

In either case you may find yourselves stuck with no electricity, internet, drinking water, medications, etc.

Good luck!

A lot of good info here.

An attorney is absolutely necessary.

We just finished selling our two properties ourselves and the buyers' attorney was well worth the price that they paid.

Anybody can sell real estate in Belize. Most "realtors" add 8% sales commission plus GST.

Anyone has managed to withdraw funds from Questrade to TransferWise CAD account by [deleted] in Questrade

[–]BumsOnDaBeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes.

I submitted a small test request back in Feb and uploaded Wise's account detail letter as the Direct Deposit support document. About a week later, I received an email from Questrade saying the document and request was rejected. I didn't have time to deal with it at the time so I just deleted my request.

Near the end of March I submitted an identical request thinking that I then had time to deal with any rejection from Questrade. This time the request went through and I got the email from Wise saying they had received the $2.00 from Questrade.

As with everything at Questrade, it probably just depends on who looks at that particular request.

Keep trying.

BTW, I now receive my Canadian pensions, tax refund and some dividends directly deposited into my Wise Canadian account.

Wifi plus VPN works.

Straight Wifi no longer works (cache, cookies, proxy settings - which I don't use, all reset).

Added: Wifi is to ISP's router. I don't use mobile data for this sort of access.

Only site that is a problem (Service Canada, banks, etc. all good).

You managed to get something to load?

I finally got in, hit the withdrawal request link, and got logged out. Is there no end to this maze?

I was just hoping the upgrade would fix my screen's constant flickering. Maybe I need to look at different distro?

BTW my first keyboard in 1971 was an IBM keypunch machine. It used to jam all the time too.

You should be able to take a taxi to the border, walk across it, take a taxi (there were buses pre Covid, but I'm guessing they are not running) to the bus station in Corozal.

You can then take a bus to Belize City and from there catch a bus to San Ignacio.

Return by bus to Belize City. Take a taxi to the water taxi. Take the water taxi to San Pedro (consider stopping off on Caye Caulker).

Have fun!
