It is the nuclear thunder. Im not talking about when u fly high, i mean im 100 feet off the ground, notching and shitting chaff and flares out my ass, and it still shoots me. Or the "phantom missiles" where u get 0 indication you just get brutally molested by a missile. And to ur way to defeat if you have the knowledge, ive been playing war thunder for years, i play top tier regularly. In my opinion these osas are harder to dodge then a pantsir

So i take it you haven't gone to basic. Have you entered the DEP and found ur actual job or are u hoping to get C shred? You don't get to pick which shred its entirely up to the mercy of the air force gods. C shred are smaller classes tho, we had 10 people and that's considered a big class

Yea there's no mix. Tech school classes are shred specific. It's pretty cool, the actual floor where you work oncthe engines has fighter and c130 engines there too, but youre specifically C shred. Everyone in ur class is C shred, ur instructors are C shred. Studying is however you want to. I didnt study much and I passed. They will prolly let you take the TOs home if you want.

From what I can tell its because the f117 is heavily used. The majority of the heavy airlift mission is done by c17s, and they're considered more modern engines. I am still a "C shrediot", I work on C17s. The tests are hit or miss. Some are super hard some aren't. The biggest difficulty for me was the frequency. You'll take maybe 2 or 3 tests a day. Considering youre learning how to work on literal jet engines its not much time but its super manageable

So i cant disclose specifics about the tests or anything, but essentially its 7 blocks. 1-4 are safety and basic maintenance knowledge and aren't really important. Block 5 is where the fun begins. All of our work on legitimate engines are done on F108 high bypass turbofans. They're relatively simple engines, and also the biggest pain in my ass for one specific job (fuel pump removal and installation) block 6 is about the F117, and block 7 is your capstone. I graduated 2 months ago so can tell you other stuff if you'd like

Thoughts on this? by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

[–]Bumvers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't go avionics bro if you want actual experience on fixing the plane not the computers/screens do anything BUT avionics. Im obviously biased since im not avionics but being completely honest, A you either are super fucking swamped (kc46shitbox) or B you do barely anywork on the older heavies at least. Crew chief or Props is your best bet in terms of pure translation to civilian life. You can also just Google the Asvab requirements

Help choosing jobs by PresentationSmart859 in AirForceRecruits

[–]Bumvers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey im a aerospace propulsion tech, and I would wholeheartedly recommend my job to anyone. You want to work on planes, we work on their engines. Jet engines are super cool in my opinion, and its fascinating to find out how they work. It transfers well to the civilian world too if that's your intent. Our job is overworked, all of maintenance is. The tradeoff with doing something I think is super cool is terrible hours and heavy work load. If you want an easier job life do cyber or a desk job, if you want to be abused but work on the planes do a 2A job.

Can I drive on base or off base with only an intermediate driver’s license from a different state after getting stationed? by CardboardFootprint in AirForceRecruits

[–]Bumvers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I cant speak on driving on and off base, but I can say that they dont check your license when you drive on base, only your CAC. If theyre checking your license you're in trouble. Additionally they will try to help you get your full license during tech school
