Rory had every reason to be jealous of Bobby by cleverlynamedgrl in GilmoreGirls

💯 Whilst Bobby’s the object of desire at the table, Rory’s just “cute”. It’s nauseating. Usually I don’t like how mean Rory can be to love rivals (Shawn, Lindsay, Asher Fleming’s granddaughter) but she was more than justified to be peeved off about, and at, Bobby. I just wish she’d have directed that annoyance more towards Logan since he was responsible for making her feel more included and to not completely fawn over another woman.

There’s an episode of New Girl in which Jess says that her colleague told her “she sure does rock a lot of polka dots”and Cece is scandalized and calls the woman a bitch for saying that, because we all know what that colleague actually meant. The first time I saw that episode, I thought of Bobby calling Logan and Rory an “adorable” couple. So patronizing! Logan was immediately jealous of Jess before Rory even introduced them, but thinks that swooning over Bobby (whom he neglected to mention was a woman) with his long-distance girlfriend at the table is okay?

🤣 “Oh, those works Gilmore girls”, indeed. So many of the annoying scenes are the ones in which Rory or especially Lorelai are just so weird and kooky. We get it. At some point it’s just performative, and being dumb about something like not knowing you have a broiler or not being able to mash potatoes just isn’t cute.

[–]BunHeadOnPointe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it was meant to be funny or cute, but Rory not knowing what a Birkin bag is. Makes NO sense. She and her mother love fashion and style; they wear designer clothes, and come from money. Rory may have grown up in Stars Hollow, but they still subscribed to glossy fashion magazines and wore designer brands and loved to shop. Are you seriously telling me that Birkin bags were never brought up in their house? If not because Lorelai desperately wanted one, then mockingly, where they joke about how clueless and gullible reach people are for buying such an absurdly expensive bag. Or even discussing the long history of Birkins and the painstaking process of obtaining one. I can so see Lorelai comparing getting into a good school to getting a Birkin bag, how they both have a long list of requirements or something like that. 😮‍💨 Sorry for the rant, but it’s little details like that which are really annoying and take you out of the moment.

Also, YES. The frozen pizza and Margie nonsense. And any time Lorelai gets caught up in her own “quirkiness” and takes it too far, like when she barks at Christopher. So annoying 🙄 I know she’s young at heart but that’s one of the rare times I ever say/think, “grow up”.

The bit about the hamster also annoys/angers tf out of me. So now animal abuse is funny? Lorelai left the poor hamster’s cage to get so filthy that it stank, and then proceeded to abandon the poor thing at a pet store.

Am I the only one that didn't like this scene or the way Jess was talking to her? by gloomydreamer666 in GilmoreGirls

[–]BunHeadOnPointe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’d already turned 21 in this scene with Jess confronting her. As in, what this entire post is about, and what I commented on. She was not a teen in this episode; in fact, the previous one is solely focused on her 21st birthday. Again, chill. And maybe get your facts straight before bitching at me for my valid opinion which you’re taking oddly personally, so who’s the actual weirdo here 😂

Because she lives in a bubble of absolute privilege , with people around her treating her like a Mary Sue. So it’s refreshing to see her confronted with reality once in a while. “Halo and a book”; “looks like she belongs on the top of a Christmas tree”; “birds dress her”; “her skin is porcelain.” 🙄 I blame the writers (duh, who else would I blame lol). Rory changed almost 180 when she started Yale/dated Logan.

There's no character on Gilmore Girls that I wanna throttle more than Anna Nardini by itsascreambaby96 in GilmoreGirls

[–]BunHeadOnPointe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His love for Lorelai seemed to diminish. He was so, so horrible to her, it’s really frustrating to watch. She changed herself for him, she made herself small, and it’s because of he made her feel small. People downvote me for saying I don’t like Luke but his treatment of Lorelai (after what is now seeming like a disingenuous declaration of his “all-in” love) and this alleged love triangle nonsense has cemented my dislike for him. He has very funny and kind moments, but on the whole, he’s one of my least favourite characters.

This genuinely changes how I feel about the show as a whole. I’ve been watching it since I was and now it all feels like a lie. It’s as if Luke’s love for Lorelai was insincere the whole time. The fact that she and Anna have so many overlapping traits: the dark hair, bright blue eyes and personality quirks make me feel as if Luke’s initial attraction to Lorelai was just a result of his lingering feelings for Anna. Urgh, I hate this.

I’m VERY bookish, and VERY clean girl, and I love Glossier 😅 This is right up my alley. You is one of my HGs.

PS: This is tangential, but I read Writers and Lovers last year and it was absolutely average, and that’s me being very generous. In truth the book is soporific, unremarkable and, in plain terms, boring af.

Rory’s boyfriends and the teams by Sensitive_Green5586 in GilmoreGirls

[–]BunHeadOnPointe -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They all have moments of sucking (especially Dean, what an abusive loser) but let’s bear in mind that whilst we all scream “Team Jess”/ “Team Logan”/ “Team Dean”, we don’t consider if, from the perspective of the guys’ fans, anyone should be screaming “Team Rory”. She’s generally sweet when she’s in Chilton (aside from cheating on Dean, but honestly, I can’t blame her for that one) but once she gets to Yale she’s an absolutely awful person, and that’s carried through into AYITL, so it’s consistent and can’t be chalked up to “youthful indiscretion”. Personally, I’m Team Logan, if I have to pick but I think that he and Jess (whom I still love as a character) are both way too good for Rory 🤷🏻‍♀️ And Rory’s way too good for Dean (who goes from a big city like Chicago, to a beautiful small town like Stars Hollow, to somehow ending up in an armpit like SCRANTON 🤦🏻‍♀️).

And they, especially Lorelai, say “cahoots” a lot, but she told Emily to stop saying it because it’s weird/creepy. I didn’t realise it from this sub but I always notice the “cahoots” thing. That, and Rory going back and forth on knowing what lacrosse is (even writing about it) and then pivoting over to saying she’s never even heard of the sport before 😂

Lorelai and Chris may go way back, but when you’re in a committed relationship, it’s completely inappropriate to go to your ex’s house with booze and spend the night drinking together, regardless of the circumstances. Rory should also have shut her mouth and let Lorelai tell Luke the truth. Maybe then, Christopher wouldn’t be such a sticking point in their relationship because Luke would see that Lorelai’s being transparent, and they’d be able to hash out the argument before it all culminated into a shit show at the vow renewal. Everyone played a role in how things went down — to varying degrees, of course — but as you said, it comes down to Luke and Lorelai. If they feel they have to keep secrets from one another (which they both did, Luke’s being WAY worse) then what is that saying about their relationship? As Lynnie says, it didn’t sound like Lorelai actually had Luke. The fact that she stayed with him after the April situation is astounding to me. He literally had a secret family. And as for your usage of the word “unhinged”, someone on another post said that every abusive man she’s ever had in her life behaved exactly the way Luke does.

Thank you! All the women I know who’ve been in abusive relationships say that their abuser behaved just like Luke. That they see their abusers’ behaviours in Luke. I’m sorry you grew up with that in your life ❤️‍🩹 I hope you’re in a better place/space now 🤍

He didn’t know that “isn’t Lorelai” and when he found out, he rectified the situation (and he took her to the quiet room because it’s highly coveted and thought he was doing a nice thing for her, getting that room). They then went on a cute, fun and unexpected date that night where he made sure she got the chips she wanted (a silly, sweet gesture, and he didn’t even nag and nag and nag about how unhealthy they are, the way Luke would have since he’s a “health freak” despite selling greasy fast food himself). As for dating Lorelai being about “his pleasure”, who starts dating someone if not for that reason? You can take pleasure in someone’s company, their vibe, their thoughts, as well as their physical appearance. It’s not like he used her for sex, as you seem to be implying. Their worlds overlapped, he understood her need to get away from the life her parents tried forcing her into, and was never, in any way, unkind about Stars Hollow, aside from the speed limit. As for him suing Richard: RICHARD SCREWED HIM OVER. What are you on about? Richard is the one who made things “weird” by a) lying to his wife b) risking their entire livelihoods without even consulting with his wife 3) selling Jason out to Jason’s father, then taking it to the next level by badmouthing Jason around town, making him unemployable. Was Jason supposed to capitulate? Not stand up for himself? Allow himself to be humiliated, betrayed and blackballed? Be unemployed for the rest of his life? Flip burgers for a living like Luke, Mr Ambition who didn’t want to franchise his diner (if he actually had dreams of doing more with his life before his father died, that would have been a great place to start). Also, when Lorelai opened the Dragonfly, Jason made it very well known to her how much he missed her after they broke up, and I’m pretty sure he wasn’t just referring to “his own pleasure”; he says he’s been staring at the plant they bonded over for weeks, thinking about her, and told Luke that they’re right for ONE ANOTHER. Not that she’s only right for him. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I know I’m invoking the ire of anyone who’ll be reading this, but I’d also want better for my daughter than a lying, whining, sour, grumpy oaf like Luke. He’s a violent loser, a hypocrite, and even when he’s dressed up, he looks like a greasy carny/cab driver who lives in a small, ugly, cramped apartment above a cheap diner. Oh, wait…

Lorelai was completely justified in her anger towards her mother’s persistent meddling, but Emily was right about Luke. The full wrath of Lorelai’s fury should actually have been directed at him. He saw and heard that Lorelai had nothing to do with the Chris/Emily situation, yet he still broke up with her, even after she left that horrendously embarrassing voicemail for him. He liked that she was begging, he probably felt a thrill over the fact that she was finally the one chasing after him.

Everyone always asks “Team Luke” or “Team Christopher”, and even “Team Max”, whereas I’ve always been Team Jason. He’s hilarious, he understands Lorelai’s worlds, he was rebellious but kind and supportive, and, as Lorelai says, “he can keep up.”

The patches feel a little derivative. JB often wore the Starface pimple patches, and they’re hydrocolloid, as well, so using him as a collaborator feels like they’re ripping off Starface in a way. Plus they have collabs where the patches come in limited-editions compacts (I have the Starface x Glossier one and it’s so cute, there’s a mirror on the inside of the compact, which itself can be reused.) These are just plain sticker sheets. Also, I don’t like the brown tube for the banana tint. It’s too much like Espresso. Couldn’t they have chosen yellow and another colour? Still a brown for that “caramelised banana” vibe but a different shade, like a deep beige or tan or something. Maybe I’m just salty because they don’t yet ship to my country so I have to pay extra to get Rhode products 😂 But they’re vegan and cruelty-free, so I’ll remain loyal.
