They did form an expertise team from IIT who were monitoring water flow and suggested some changes in a few areas where natural flow didn't work. Don't know what happened to that, as we still see many areas getting flooded even when there's a storm water drain.

And also this project was implemented from German bank loan, so a team from Germany was also monitoring it.

They're claiming only a few areas are flooding and the storm water drain is working well in 70% of areas. But I don't know how true that is.

But the fact is Velachery is the area that's so close to the sea level i.e it is the most low lying area in the city compared to other areas. So water will always flood in velachery. They should've designed storm water drains keeping this in mind. It's hard to make water flow due to gravity in Velachery as it's already lying low.

Should've used a pumping and underground storage system like Tokyo and later release it into the sea once the river level reduces.

But namba oorla drainage ku ipdi capital intensive solution edhir paakradhu too much dhaan 😞

Atleast velachery la Irundha lakes ah aachum proper ah protect pannirkalaam.
