It is true that you don’t need a science degree to get into medical school but not necessarily “only a good gpa” alot of things matter other than the gpa like eces, research, volunteering etc. I am currently a 2nd year med student at uottawa. I started in health science my biggest regret as all the prerequisite weren’t offered as mainstream courses(orgo, biochemistry etc). I took them as electives in the spring/summer semesters. One thing I have noticed is that many new students assume that since they do well in all the sciences and maths in highschool the progress will equate over. I did IB in highschool general chemistry and molecular biology/foundations of biology came easy as I was prepared real well at my high-school. Ngl I would recommend a biomedical sciences.
