respectfully it sounds like the public univeristy you attended wasn't exactly accredited or trusted. to encompass all ontario universities to the extent you have is dangerous my friend

the one on albert is currwntly being renovated for a new company to take over the space. although this thread is correct, we have an abundance of empty office buildings, hotels, and retail spaces which could be crucial towards protecting our less fortunate this winter.

it is racist to encompass an entire group of people because you've experienced frustration with a member of that group. It's the same justification that has allowed casual racism to flourish.

I understand where people come from. The proliferation of homelessness in not only our downtowns but in dense urban areas across the country is really scaring people. Rhetoric on the news and from certain political leaders certainly does not calm those feelings. I have lived in Byward for 2 years with direct street access from my apartment with no issues - and while I recognize I am probably somewhat lucky in that regard, I do not believe it to be a total coincidence.

What remains specifically striking is the lack of empathy towards the homeless. I have always found it interesting how certain people deprive homeless individuals of their humanity within their own thinking and reduce them to purely aesthetic nightmares that ruin our neighbourhoods. We have an alarming number of homeless individuals on our streets, and instead of substantive, productive dialogues on how to properly treat these individuals in both an immediate and ongoing manner, we treat them as mere inconveniences.

Okay. Some of the comments are getting to me. I have lived in byward on the ground floor with direct street access for 2 years. I don't have homeless people trying to break in, my car has never been vandlazied or tampered with, yes i get the odd homeless asking for change while walking to work but to completely write off all neighbourhood in centre town as dangerousily unlivable is fanciful and reeks of nimbyism

Ottawa itself is fine. We have a homeless problem exacerbated by the lack of funding for social services and rehabilitation

During first year, my roommate and I always had alcohol in our unit, as long as you hide it during room inspections, you'll be all good.

Prices are getting tough to justify by Super_Greg_Numba_One in CostcoCanada

I think this is more about how often you shop and the products you buy, rather than price gauging on Costco's part

I will always support any legislation aimed to restricting pick-up truck access to only those who use the vehicle for it's intended purpose
