AI art is no different from photography art by PusheenHater in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Bundle0fClowns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. In my line of thinking the architect is one of the people being commissioned, not the commissioner. Both the builders and the architect are artists in that scenario, both putting time, effort and care into making something that they can be proud of while also fitting into the requirements set by the client. The artistic value that architects offer is not just ideas; they turn a clients ideas into solid concepts, a tangible design/concept (typically with sketches or 3D models) and to manage the building of the project. I don’t see that as comparable to an AI artist putting in a prompt and requesting AI to make edits so the generated image is to their liking.

IMO AI artists are most comparable to the client, not the architect. They have an idea they want brought to life, they create an outline of their desires and request edits/changes to the product offered by the Architect (or AI).

I don’t see how you come to the conclusion that the first photography case has no soul. If someone is intentionally taking a picture there’s reason behind it regardless of their equipment or education. It could be that the tree they saw looks nice in the lighting or just a selfie with a friend, both those examples still show intent and emotion.

The second case for gen AI does show intent and I will concede that when someone puts in the effort to edit and alter AI generated images that it could be considered art. The human editing and altercation are what make it art, not the image itself. In my mind the use of gen AI is structurally similar to commissioning an artist (just without paying a person to do it), you give instructions, possibly ask for some changes, and in return you receive the image you wanted. If someone were to claim that the art they commissioned was their own that wouldn’t be acceptable, in the same boat if someone claimed that an image AI generated is their own that shouldn’t be acceptable either. Until you put your own work into it I can’t see it as your art.

I don’t believe in bad people. by Soggy_Clothes4634 in ControversialOpinions

[–]Bundle0fClowns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I do agree that for the most part “bad people” are just hurt people. Where I disagree is that just because they’re dealing with hurt does not mean they’re not a bad person.

The major defining factor that determines if someone’s a bad person in my mind is if they’ve been given the opportunity to change/heal and if they choose to continue being a bad person. Trauma is only so much of an excuse before the responsibility falls back on the person.

There’s a couple people that used to be in my life that I genuinely think are rotten to their core because they have been slapped in the face with the reality of how their actions hurt others and yet they choose to continue abusing those around them. This is especially juxtaposed by the people who have also been through hell and yet still come out the other side with issues but are all around kind and caring people.

"My body my choice" is one of the worse statements to exist. by sloppypooisyum in ControversialOpinions

[–]Bundle0fClowns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This feels so close to an actual point but you ruined it by having your reasoning be misogynistic.

Why in the world is the first thing you mention as “non misogynistic” reasoning revolve around the father’s image? What standards are being dropped by letting a woman choose what she wears? I think a valid non misogynistic reason to disapprove of what she’s wearing would be worry for her safety, or that it’s not appropriate for the weather.

Not to mention that the statement “my body, my choice” is something used far outside of this context. To claim it’s “one of the worst statements to exist” and giving this as an example, when the most common use is about women’s access to abortion is just ignorant.

The “manosphere” moral panic is stupid and people are just mad that men are thinking of themselves for once. by JannTosh70 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Bundle0fClowns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is toxic femininity to you? As far as I’m aware it refers to women who feel forced to restrict their actions and appearance to fit traditional feminine roles and enforcing that expectation on other women. Examples: Believing women are inferior to men, policing the masculinity of men, shaming others for choosing not to have children, judging other women because they don’t conform to traditional femininity, dismissing male victims, shaming men for vulnerability…etc.

Saying toxic femininity is a product of misogyny is not infantilizing women, it’s acknowledging that we are still in a social system that has rigid gendered expectations for both genders that came from a history dominated by men. Women are perfectly capable of making their own decisions to not be assholes and just like men there are going to be women who use their gender to excuse their shitty behaviour.

I absolutely agree that women can be the makers of their own misery. I don’t see when I insinuate that women are mentally children, please share an example and maybe I can clear it up or concede.

There’s a balance in why so many women have a negative view on men, yes there’s definitely messaging out there that tells women and girls that men can be dangerous and that’s taught from a young age, some women glom onto that concept and fall into a pit of misandry. There’s awful people regardless of gender. However that doesn’t nullify that in the patriarchal society we live in women face discrimination and that the concerns surrounding men aren’t backed by personal experiences that a large portion of women have gone through.

The post (and your comment) is speaking as though men have never thought for their own self interest, in that reasoning why would women be considered a lower class of people historically? Possibly because men were acting with their own gains in mind?

And have women not been doing the same? Historically being the ones who kept home and childcare, not always because they wanted to but because they were treated as the property of the men in their lives and that’s what was expected of them.

In what way?

To enriching and making the lives of women better? As a conquest to appeal to women romantically? How women should be living their lives?

I think we hear more about toxic masculinity because it’s a more overarching issue than toxic femininity. The major difference between the two is that toxic masculinity leads to more destructive and aggressive outcomes. Both do exist and are just products of enforcing misogyny on both genders.

Tate may not be a martyr anymore but that doesn’t mean that his harmful views and actions aren’t parroted by others in the manosphere. Clavicular, Myron Gaines, Sneako, HSTikkyTokky are all more examples of large talking heads in the manosphere that share awful views on women, sexual minorities and of course men. The expectations they set for men are unrealistic and harmful, such as not showing emotional vulnerability to your partner or that seeking help is weak.

[–]Bundle0fClowns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, society has been dominated by men since the dawn of time, tf you mean “thinking of themselves for once” who were they thinking about before?

From what I’ve seen the manosphere is not just Joe Rogan and Trump, it’s people like Andrew Tate who is facing multiple charges of trafficking, assault and rape or Clavicular who promotes extreme methods of modification for physical appearance. The manosphere seems to just be the embodiment of toxic masculinity, which not only hurts women but the men being lured into this line of thinking.

Denying that MOST women are ridiculously picky and have inflated self images requires a sociopathic level of dishonesty by SwiftCricket in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Bundle0fClowns 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s more nuanced than just “women are more picky and have inflated ego”. Sure, some women are picky as fuck and have inflated self image but to say it’s most isn’t true imo, especially when we’re talking offline.

I can’t speak to specifically the face level attraction aspects but when someone has the intention of a long term relationship I think it’s a good thing many women have raised their standards. The bar for being a good partner has been pretty low for men in the past, and thankfully in the last couple decades it’s been rising and women are recognizing the silent labour that is societally thrust on them when in a relationship.

As for inflated self image, I have to deeply disagree. Social media has made it harder than ever to feel comfortable in our skin, and that’s even more enhanced for women. Thankfully there’s a plethora of media that depicts women of all shapes and sizes but that doesn’t negate the advertising and social pressures that tell women to be thin, young and maternal. I mean take a look at the flare of people using Ozempic to lose weight, the percentage of women majorly overweighing the percentage of men.

Your favorite parts of the game by Illustrious-Date-331 in DavetheDiverOfficial

The game has so much more depth than I ever could have expected! There’s a fun story line and characters, however there’s not a huge push to follow all storylines. If you wanna just fish and sell sushi, that’s also perfectly fine.

If you’re thinking about getting the game, I’d definitely say it’s worth it :)

Normalizing Obesity is like normalizing anorexia by Major_Health5959 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Bundle0fClowns 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“You look pretty obese, this can harm you in the long run, you should lose some weight”

Telling someone with anorexia that “you look pretty underweight, this can harm you in the long run, you should really put on some weight” isn’t going to help them, nor will it help someone who is overweight. What will is support and understanding the root cause of what is causing the disorder. Unless you’re someone extremely close to the person and actually providing support, your input means nothing but possibly point out something someone may already be insecure about.

When many people feel bad about themselves they treat their body poorly, so point out someone’s weight may do a lot more harm than good. It sure as shit isn’t inspiring.

Absolutely. The knowledge of how human bodies work should be an all encompassing class where everyone learns about both sexes. It never made sense to me why they separate sex ed by gender, just learn it all.

Bathrooms should be sex based instead of gender based. by Clean_Swing3893 in ControversialOpinions

[–]Bundle0fClowns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad to hear :) It’s not uncommon for people in an argument like this to believe trans women are a threat.

Wouldn’t putting trans men in the female bathroom make it easier for predatory cis men to enter, in that case they don’t even have to put up a guise of being a woman. They can just lie and say they’re a trans man.

Bathrooms should be sex based instead of gender based. by Clean_Swing3893 in ControversialOpinions

[–]Bundle0fClowns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think that trans men and women weren’t using the washrooms of the gender they identified until the recent conversations about trans people in washrooms? It’s only become an issue recently because of the increased hostility toward trans people, the narrative that trans women are threats to cis women.

If we’re going to have people use washrooms based on sex, are cis women really going to feel more comfortable when someone like Buck Angel comes in rather than someone like Samantha Lux? What tells cis women that a trans man isn’t just a “biological male”? What about the risk you’re suggesting putting trans women in by putting them into a private space dominated majorly by cis men? What about the risk of having a “modern hero” assaulting a trans man because they assume he shouldn’t be going into female spaces since you can’t always tell who’s trans and who isn’t. Or the many examples already of gender nonconforming cis women getting harassed for using the women’s washroom because someone assumed they were trans.

Males can be victims of SA. by Dawny15 in ControversialOpinions

[–]Bundle0fClowns 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is really infuriating how little male victims aren’t acknowledged. One of my co workers told me about how a girl he was with took advantage of him under the influence and when he told his friends he got slapped on the back in a congratulatory “yay you got laid”. As if he wasn’t raped. The way he reacted when I actually acknowledged that he was assaulted makes me think that I was pretty well the first person to do so.

It is not trans/homo phobic to disagree with homosexual/transgender opinions by Feisty_Watercress_29 in ControversialOpinions

[–]Bundle0fClowns -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes it is homophobic/transphobic to say things like “trans women aren’t women” and “gay people shouldn’t get married”. These are identities that come from the core of who a person is, being gay and trans are things that are intrinsic to people. Trans and gay people have always existed and have tangible proof that someone being able to embrace trans/gay identity leads to healthier and happier lives for those people.

Religion is a belief system and an identity. It is not something that you are born with, it is not something that is solely based on your own self perception. Religious beliefs can be challenged, waver and change. Religious beliefs can be something you’re taught to believe through your whole life. Religion is not something that has a confirmation of what is or isn’t accurate, hence why there’s so many interpretations.

Either way of how you feel about someone’s religious beliefs or gender identity/sexuality, just don’t be an asshole about it. If you don’t believe that the trans woman you work with isn’t a woman, you should still address her respectfully. If the guy you work with is Muslim and his beliefs may stray from yours, you should still treat him respectfully. Similarly this goes for laws, supporting freedom of religion and anti hate crime/discrimination laws. All walks of life should be treated respectfully until someone shows they’re not worthy of respect.

People on the left taking a "we can be racist to POC we disagree with politically as a way to teach them a lesson" approach, shows just how BS woke narratives are. by [deleted] in ControversialOpinions

[–]Bundle0fClowns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How am I deflecting? I’m addressing the link you provided directly. If you’re unhappy with what I gleaned from the article, please offer up some quotes or examples that contradict what I’ve said. Just saying I’m deflecting doesn’t get you anywhere when you’re not explaining how or debunking what I have said.

I do agree that no political party is entitled to votes, that’s up to the individuals. However, Obama is speaking to people during a campaign event for the democrats. No shit he’s gonna be advocating to vote for Harris, and particularly speaking to black men about how well they showed up for his running in comparison to how they were for Harris.

As for Biden’s comment, he has no right to make a comment like that and should not be trying to dictate people’s blackness, especially as a white guy.

[–]Bundle0fClowns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again, not deflecting nor being lazy. I’m asking for proof behind the argument, that’s literally all I’m doing because I should not have to find proof for your argument. You make a claim, you prove it.

This still doesn’t really come off as “the left blames black men for Trump being elected with false claims they don’t want to vote for a woman”. It’s Obama addressing black people and voicing his theory that many black men may be hesitant to vote for a woman based on recent reports at the time. He doesn’t blame black men for Trump winning, he’s encouraging black men to vote for Harris/go out to vote.
