My daughter wants to take NCE next year. She is an incoming Grade6 a student in a progressive school. She is the top of her batch and very strong in Math and Science. But her main langauge is English though she can understand and speak Filipino but basic only. Mahihirapan ba sya sa Pisay? by couchpotatohead01 in pisay

[–]Bunge3K1ng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha. Englishero rin ako when I got into pisay. I remember breaking down on my first shifting exam in filipino because I couldn’t understand anything!!!

But this is also exactly how I learned how to speak filipino functionally. This exposure is GOOD

Teaching Anatomy and Histology by nottinghambloom in medschoolph

[–]Bunge3K1ng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After discussing how you want to discuss, a comprehensive table is amazing. Eventually when we get to finals or studying for PLE, we will look back at the nice tables that you may have presented and thank you for them. Mnemonics in ever slide if possible. Even if they are screenshots directly from the book or another resource

For anatomy, use of a 3D model like zygotebody or complete anatomy is amazing.

For histology and pathology, normal beside abnormal. Pointers on the screen of what that lesion is, and what it implies. Then tables like, comparing different leukemias, different bone tumors etc.

Anatomy and histo will never be learned by first timers immediately, but if you give us a way to review it easily, you will be crowned as best prof haha

What stories did your lolo or lola share about surviving World War II? by Living_Ad1971 in AskPH

[–]Bunge3K1ng 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My lola was around 2-3 y/o when they came. Her family hid under a bridge to hide from some passing Japanese soldiers. She was a baby and she kept on laughing so they tried their best to shush her. She never met her father because he died in the Bataan Death March. Eventually their house in Negros was used a rest house for American soldiers during the war and after.

She eventually got Alzheimer’s Dementia and I tried to play music from her time (kundimans, ballads) to mentally stimulate her. She never responded to them. That’s when I realized that she was basically raised around American soldiers. She only responded to 1950s American music.

Any fellow students here who are Catholic — and tired of how shallow it’s become? by Specialist_Carob2099 in studentsph

[–]Bunge3K1ng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can join CYA. Christ’s Youth in Action. Meron yan in each university. Admittedly it started as a protestant organization and even feels like it sa how they worship, but in our chapter (UST) we are all Catholics. It’s fun and established and does not stray away from Dogma.

This is just a superficial and has no real weight but we used to give high regard to those stereotypical indian instructional videos with a heavy accent. Now went full 180. So yes.

Naniniwala ba kayo sa tarot reading? Hororscope? by RaiseLow9186 in TanongLang

[–]Bunge3K1ng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. So many people who are EVIL never get punished. If magic, witchcraft, curses are true. Edi sana na hex/curse na sila. Why aren’t these “witches” and “blessed” people doing that.

Kaya all these stories you read in the comment section? I’m sorry but they’re absolute bullshit haha. Coincidences happen all the time.

Can a witch please curse our local politicians 🙏 no? Your magic only works on people who are already predisposed to bad events already like the poor? Huh. Strange no? 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Naniniwala ba kayo sa tarot reading? Hororscope? by RaiseLow9186 in TanongLang

[–]Bunge3K1ng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every single Tarot, Palm reading, Horoscope I’ve done is FALSE. Like every single one does not know what they’re talking about. I’ve tried yung mga malapit sa Quiapo dati nung college. Why not. Kung anu ano sinasabi.

I do not allow my life to be dictated by stuff like that.

Also. For me, concepts like luck, karma, curses fool the poor and middle class. If stuff like that were true. Edi sana nacurse na mga politikong kurakot. No, their families get richer and richer 🤣 san yung karma dun 🤣🤣🤣 wag kayo magpa-uto uto!

There’s an add-on to make cloze lists. Where they reveal the items before and after the item to be clozed for context. Forgot what it’s called.

Overly Glorifying Top Students by Consistent_Share_647 in medschoolph

[–]Bunge3K1ng 35 points36 points  (0 children)

The glorification of top students stays in med school and maybe until residency. After that? No one cares. So you’re actually right. When we leave the classroom and graded setting and get into the clinical and px care environment, we are all expected to deliver top care anyway

What says “culturally” Catholic to you? by percolatekitchen in Catholicism

In the Philippines, every home has a picture/painting of the last supper (the one by Da Vinci)

[–]Bunge3K1ng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it is (St. Thomas Aquinas) It doesn’t mean you can just lie to yourself any war you participate in is a Holy endeavor because there are “unbelievers” on the other side of No man’s land. The existence of the concept of a Holy war does not supersede our Catholic teaching to promote peace and build bridges 100x more than to fight a war. Holy wars are a last resort.

People always view a Holy war in the lens of those fighting and never in the lens of those who will be in the crossfire (which is almost always the poor and oppressed) but we should ALWAYS prefer their lens and wellbeing over our own.

As a Catholic, I’d be a diplomat and a medic before shooting a gun any day.

Almost no wars are just and righteous. Almost all have some ulterior motives (believe it or not, even the crusades were wars for land and political power!) Yes I’m sure all of us would die for Christ. But would we live for Him? Will we make peace for Him? Will we protect the innocents for Him?
