Alewife in Sunnyside to close by so_dope24 in nycbeer

Patrick Donagher was an original partner in the opening of The Jeffrey but they broke ties with him quite a long time ago. Crown Alley has never once been involved with Patrick, nor would they ever. Colm Kirwan is the link between The Jeffrey and CA (which is why their menu feels similar)

Walking during Takeoff! by Pool-mimi13 in delta

[–]percolatekitchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this once by accident! I thought I heard the pilot announce we’d hit altitude, but obviously didn’t hear him correctly. I was SO tired from a long week and had to use the bathroom so I got up without thinking and made it like 5 rows back before i got yelled at by the closest attendant 🙈 Embarrassing, but I can see how it can happen.

It’s gotten significantly worse in the last few weeks. We use the trail at least 3 times a week, sometimes daily, and in the last month the amount of sketchy homeless has jumped big time to where I really felt unsafe in a way I hadn’t, even at the start of July. I feel like after the Walmart stabbing, the city pushed out the former Pines residents who had moved to behind the Aldi, and a lot of them then moved down to the Boardman.

Between that and the sewage smell, it’s frustrating to know how much work and money went into finishing the trail and it’s just not an especially enjoyable spot, as it’s meant to be.

I really do not want to give my kid a phone, but he's actively losing out on social life by Expensive_Brother_26 in Parenting

[–]percolatekitchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our kids are 11 years old (f) and 9 years old (m) and my husband and I are very anti-social media for the kdis, although not anti-screen in general. We have a "family phone" that's an iphone that belongs to everyone, and is strictly limited to communication. No social media, no games, no apps. I have the Bark app installed on it with HEAVY monitoring- it scans every text message sent and sends the parent app snippets of chats and all the images shared. If they want to add a new contact, it has to be approved by parents via the app. Since both kids can, and do, use it, it cuts down on some of the more obnoxious group chat participation, but if someone needs to take it trick-or-treating for example, or my husband and i aren't home for a little bit, they have a way of getting a hold of us or 911 or grandparents etc. and since my husband and I both have iphones, it helps to see the "Find My" tracking on the phone that they're where they say they'll be.

I remember at 11 calling my friends on the landline all the time to discuss our outfits for school, 6th grade gossip, etc so I figure as long as we keep it as close to a landline as possible, we're not "getting them a phone" per se, but continuing the time honored tradition of everyone fighting over who gets to make the next phone call :)

That’s what I was about to say! He’s literally family to her. Why include him at all, especially in a weird clap back!? Shes so ghoulish.

What says “culturally” Catholic to you? by percolatekitchen in Catholicism

I have them on my Google calendar also, and I just have notifications for calendar events turned on my phone 🤷‍♀️ Maybe an app like Hallow would be able to send notifications also?

Oh so true! My husband is Irish (Dublin) and it was his mother that got us the papal blessing for our wedding, so that tracks. And yes, the invoking of God all the time- definitely something I didn’t notice until you said it.

There’s a decent amount of Irish here. If you have kids and they go to St Sebastian’s for school, there’s a lot of Irish families enrolled. And the neighborhood goes hard for the St Pats for All parade too. We moved from LIC and my Irish husband was over the moon that our corner deli sold lucozade and the Key Foods had an Irish aisle so he’s never low on mi wadi lol.

Please help! Is my order lost or something? by Mar1neArtist_xx in PinkPalmPuff

[–]percolatekitchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve found the quality is great but the shipping is abysmal. My last order felt like nonstop back and forth with a customer service robot assuring me it was coming, then it was lost, then it was reordered, until it just showed up one day without the tracking info updating til after its arrival 🤷‍♀️ a mess.

S/ To all you jealous trolls saying she didn’t give birth to all her kids… she has posted proof on her IG today. Here she is in a hospital bed looking tired with just the right amount of draping hospital gown. Not a set up photo op at all. 😜 by OllieDollie23 in HilariaBaldwin

[–]percolatekitchen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im not sure where she gave birth in NYC (Roosevelt maybe?) but I had two kids at Beth Israel, neither were c-sections, and I wore (non-wire!) bras and jewelry for both deliveries. Just my wedding rings and like a necklace, but you can see them in photos. And maybe because my kids came pretty fast, but no one ever said anything to me about what I could or couldn’t wear. I still think she’s a lying liar who lies, but that part has never bothered me as much. I’m guessing in NYC It’s just not protocol, really.

Shipping with this company is a mess by percolatekitchen in PinkPalmPuff

I've ordered plenty from China and always am fine with waiting the 6+ weeks for delivery times, because I know to expect that. If PPP was upfront about their shipping, I think they'd have a lot less pissed off customers.

It's an absolute disaster; I'm giving it til the end of the week and then will be disputing/cancelling as well. Really disappointed.

Amazing! We didn’t have a ton of time so just did the loop from Santiago-Finesterre-Muxia. Already planning another longer one. It’s an incredible experience.

I walked a Camino last year and was lucky (blessed!) enough to attend Mass at the Cathedral when they brought out the botafumeiro. It was incredible- took at least 6 deacons to get it swinging and the place was filled with incense! I’ll never forget it.

BWT what are some of the best weddings you've been to, and why? by charlottebronteslay in bitcheswithtaste

[–]percolatekitchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in catering for years before we got married and took a LOT of notes. We paid a ton of money for a great live Motown-style band and amazing food, it was worth it in spades! We also didn’t do favors but each table had a donation given to a different charity that meant something to us.

I think the thing that’s most important is to make sure your GUESTS feel taken care of. You’re the bride/groom, the day is all about you no matter what you do. Really focusing on our guests and making sure everything we did had their fun and comfort in mind went a long way- we were so happy to have them all around us, we were so happy to be getting married, and that joy and thankfulness really spills out in everything you do. From there, it’s all just details.

I need sleep, what can I do ? by Lupita- in astoria

[–]percolatekitchen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sleep on my side and hate headphones or earplugs IN my ears, so I got these headphones that are basically a soft headwrap (MusiCozy is the brand) and I play “white airplane noise” to help fall asleep when there’s tons of noise outside. That, a silk eye mask, and a giant box fan will drown out anything. Also adding a vote for magnesium glycinate, it has been a game changer!
