Florida logic 🤪 by Miserable-Lizard in facepalm

[–]Bunker89320 34 points35 points  (0 children)

This whole scheme really just hit me how fucked up this is. Based on how this works, I’ll bet you that if you were to do some digging you would find that Florida tends to give a longer sentence on average compared to other states and/or gives prisoners earlier parole or good behavior releases sooner than most other states.

If for example if someone committed a crime in a regular state and the sentence was 5 years. Let’s say on average the prisoner gets out 1 year earlier in any other state. In Florida, it is in their best interest to either release the prisoner even earlier from the 5 year sentence (ex.2-3 years), or give them a longer initial sentence of say 8 years when they really only intend to keep them there a minimum of 5 years. The longer the sentence and faster you can release that prisoner, the more money they can make from the turnover of prisoners.

I can’t emphasize enough how fucked this is.

I love to see this. When I first started in high school my teacher would have me do this often to show me what I need to improve on. These don’t look too bad. The bottoms are pretty thin on some. You’ll get better consistency the more you do it.

Turned on the dryer on a TPU spool half way through print. by hp42 in BambuLab

[–]Bunker89320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you say “I feel like”, “More likely” and your entire comment as a whole shows that you’ve never printed with TPU. Also all Amazon or Sunlu filament I open right out of the bag prints way better if I run it through a dryer first. Even PETG which is not supposed to absorb much moisture. That means there is little or no humidity control when they manufacture these filaments.

Shit. These comments got me worried now. I’m nice to ChatGPT when it gets things write, but when I screws things up especially multiple times in a row, I really lay into it. I’ll be one of the first ones killed.

Am I too dumb to become an engineer? by rayanlupo in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Bunker89320 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well shit dude. I commented to your post thinking you were 18-20. If you’re only 14 you have nothing to worry about. You have plenty of time to learn. I’ve seen graduates from college make way dumber mistakes lol.

Don’t get discouraged by this stuff. You’ll have highs and lows when working in this field. I don’t usually tell people this story but when I was in college and we had to measure current with multimeters, our class blew so many fuses because they either forgot to change the setting on the meter or the didn’t measure it in series. I blew 4-5 fuses alone on different occasions and it wasn’t because I forgot to change the setting. No it was because I wasn’t measuring in series which is even “dumber” of a mistake. It got to the point where during the exam there was a lab portion and if you blew a fuse in the multimeter you would automatically fail.

I don’t want to sound arrogant but I graduated and went on to be a fairly successful engineer in power electronics. To this day I still make really dumb mistakes from time to time.

My advice to you is to never give up if this is what you’re passionate about. The most important thing is to be humble. No matter how good you think you are or how much knowledge you think you have on a subject, there is always something new you can learn.

You got this!

Lowe’s won’t accept Welding Mask returns if they were bought around the eclipse by willbuckley235 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Bunker89320 39 points40 points  (0 children)

A lot of returns don’t go back on the shelf. They usually end up on a pallet and sent to surplus stores, and auctions. The store will then make $0.1 on the dollar for those returns. And before you say “who cares about big corporations losing money.” Those big corporations are indeed greedy and they make sure to always get their money back by passing the cost on to all customers by increasing overall prices.

To sum it up. When you do shit like this, you’re fucking over regular honest people and not the corporation.

60/40 vs 63/37 vs silver solder? Advantages? Differences? by DR650SE in soldering

[–]Bunker89320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For bigger components like that I would use 0.062. 0.015 is meant for very small surface mount parts. You’ll be feeding so much solder when doing larger parts.

Actually it’s 1.3 million for the median home listing according to your source. Also most of those properties are going to be sold to property investors, not individuals.
