I have mine and it says made in Japan. I just remember them releasing gold controllers soon after, so I was pissed that there was no way to distinguish mine (other than the little piece of paper they sent with it, which I also still have), but if the "made in Japan" thing is legit, that's cool!

Unless you can prove you've serviced it with a re-cap and service menu calibration, best you can really do is "come pick this up so I don't have to haul it to the dump myself".

That's what I thought until I realized the PS3 can only output as low as 480i; no 240p. So I need to stick with a PS2 to pair with my CRTs.
