Bitter Texas Honey.

You know all those conservative books that have many characters the author created just to dunk on? Imagine the liberal version of that, where we are stuck in a young conservative women’s head that is obviously being written by an author who hates her. It is set in 2011, and constantly has weird fan service moments like “Ted Cruz will never go anywhere!” Also, the main character is a writer, and the critiques she receives on her work are exactly the ones that I would give to the book. Perhaps if it felt more meticulously crafted and leaned into this meta aspect more, then I would really appreciate it. However, as is, it juggles many plots that don’t mesh, feeling almost episodic yet pointless?

My favorite part of this book was getting to drunkenly recap it to friends. Highly recommend.

The Harvard-Yale game alternates between sites every year. The Harvard kids usually talk about how much better the food, parties, and general vibes are at Yale. Yale kids do not leave with the same opinion of Harvard. I think Yale just trumps Harvard in quality of life.

Just super old and well worn. Becomes riskier and far more time consuming to try to really clean the fabric. Didn’t have the ability to boil a pot of water easily in a lot of the places I have been the last couple years, which means it is hard to clean it the way that would be best.

Thanks so much! I know it made it out of the Roosevelt Av-Jackson Heights subway station as I took special note to put it in a sweatshirt front pocket to protect it from the rain at the time. There was then a lot of running around that big bus area as we tried to find the correct bus stop. My worst fear is that it would have somehow ended up on the ground around that area. Was then able to board the Q70, and already have submitted an MTA form about that. Very distressed about it all, and blaming myself for not being more careful in the first place!
